Write about a role model that played an important part in your life. My uncle is about 6’2’’, muscle-bound, and somewhat bald, mostly due to the amount of hair gel he used in college. During college, he was a free spirit who loved hanging out with his friends, found new and interesting diversions to pursue and participated in almost every extra-curricular activity. Many of his friends described him as the man to know on campus. He majored in Computer Science and could often be found nose deep in his computer at home. However, his test scores were not particularly exceptional. After getting his undergraduate degree, unlike the rest of his peers, he did not attempt to get his master’s degree. That decision haunted him for the rest of his life. After he graduated, he lived a life where he thought he was free of responsibilities: he partied with his friends, watched movies and played video games. His mom served free and good food, he had a place to sleep every night, and my uncle believed he was satisfied. However, he started to notice that his friends were busy and didn’t hang out with him as much. Then he noticed his family was having money problems, and he was the man of the house. So he decided to apply for a job. For a whole year he attempted to find a suitable job and not a single company would accept him. Following the counsel of family and friends, he went back to school to get his master’s degree. This time, however, he was filled with a passion that had not been there before, a burning need that encouraged him to learn. At the end of two years, he obtained his degree at the top of his class. He now happily works in a software firm that values him greatly. He is not the role model that most people would choose, but my uncle has inspired me. His story showed me that life isn’t a straight and concrete road; it is instead a dirt path, prone to twists and turns.
