Since they are finally free from their parents or guardians, they want to enjoy their freedom by doing as you can call it “activities” that they were not allow to do when they were living with their parents because most parents won’t allow them to do such an activity. Also most of binge drinkers among college students, does not know that they are binge drinking or not. One of the major reasons that college students binge drink is severe and consistent pressure from their fellow students. Most of the college students, especially new enrolled students consider binge drinking is the way to adulthood. When most of the students go to the party, they end up drinking over their limit.
Many people started in high school because its what most of their friends and older peers would do but they do not keep drinking because of this. After a person starts to drink they usually enjoy it, which is why they continue to keep binge drinking. It can make things more fun and it can allow someone to be any person they want to be. Not everyone who drinks does it to follow the bandwagon. Fraternities and Sororities do hold a large part in drinking on campus but that is not what greek life is all about.
In order to be successful one needs to have a great motivator. It takes a lot of determination, and patients in order to reach and surpass set goals. For me my motivator is success. I not only want to be successful but I feel the need to be successful in today’s day and age. From my experiences as a student I have come to the realization that education is a very powerful, enriched, and very promising tool to have.
For example, many of us weren’t really use to studying during high school, mainly because it was so unchallenging. But through college you are going to have to make some changes in your life. You are going to take those classes that require memorizing long formulas and theories, and that will take more of your time. During the process of college you are going to have to learn how to take care of yourself regardless of your parent’s being there for you or not. Responsibility will play a big role during this time of your life.
But college drop outs also can able be due to the unequal college preparation given in high schools. The education system needs to be reformed so students have the opportunity to choose whether they want to go to college or do vocational training instead. A college degree is bringing more negative aspects into a student’s life therefore students, especially from working class, must know the alternatives to be able to succeed. Most of the students in the United States are middle or working class. In addition of going to school, working class students also have to get a job to be able to help out their families.
This is a problem not only for students but also for the University and the Community as well. This paper examines the culture of alcohol consumption in college, its effects on college students and the strategies that colleges can employ for developing more targeted, evidence-based interventions that help students drink in less risky ways. Of course, college is a new and exciting time for students with new found independence and freedom-a time for young adults to explore all that life has to offer and really discover who they are and where they fit in to this world. For many, it’s their first time being away from home and living on their own. This can be lonely, overwhelming and unsettling without the support, connections and security from home.
For the people who don’t interact with people well, college will give you the opportunity to enhance your communication skills for the real world. Now there are also people who decide not to go to college mainly because they can’t afford to go. With the economy today, it is extremely difficult to find a job and earn decent money without a college degree. Even though there are people out there who would like to go to college, it really makes things difficult without having some sort of job to cover your expenses. Another reason why people don’t go to college
Minimum Legal Drinking Age The current legal drinking age is twenty one years old; however, there has been an interest in lowering the drinking age down to eighteen years old. A teen can become an adult in every arena of life at this age, except being legal to consume alcoholic beverages. One may choose to lower the drinking age because many teens do not follow the rules anyways. In high school parties, it is common for there to be drinking. The drinking age should not be lowered because seniors in high school can contribute to the underage fourteen to seventeen year olds’ desires to experiment with alcohol.
(Rose 2011) I believe these students are doing different activities to better their lives and to experience different life styles. In college I was going to try college wrestling but I cannot because I’m not enrolled in the university. Even with low academic skills, going to the community college you can still explore new interests, discover new place, and meet new people. “These experiences contribute to college life, but getting an education should remain the student's foremost purpose.” (Shatkin 2009) Rose’s article talks about Elias
It’s Only A Hook-Up, No Hard Feelings The term “dating” is so overrated and now in the shadows all over our college campuses. Most people now see dating as being an outsider to everyone else and making it harder to enjoy the college experience that every high school student awaits for. Back in the older days you would see couples going out together on Friday nights and spending quality time with one another. Now, Friday night means time to turn up! You will mostly see college kids going out to the club dancing on anything they can grind on, and if they’re lucky they will find someone to take back home to hook up with.
