Most citizens own a smartphone and are always on them. Playing games, texting, emailing etc. But the biggest problem I see are people using their phones while driving down the road causing serious distractions! There putting in more time and attention to there cell phones and not the road causing fatalities. The government should ban the use of cell phones while driving. It would help reduce unnecessary fatalities. Today I 'm going to speak to you on the importance to ban cell phone usage while driving nationwide. To encompass this much needed federally backed ban on cell phone usage. I will give you some interesting statistics regarding traffic fatality rates where cell phones were the culprite to the distraction of the driver. Also I will cover some basic age demographics and statistics. Finally I will cover an alternative to use your cell phone while driving. You can use a hands free device and limit your distractions. As we look at the statistics involving vehicle accidents that involve cellular phone use. It is important to remember that although not every accident is fatal. According to a recent poll conducted by Edgar Snyder attorney at law,1/3 of all drivers polled (37%) have made or received calls and texts. (18%) of the people polled said they talk and text regularly while driving. There were 3,092 deaths due to distraction related vehicle accidents in 2010. Reaction time is delayed dramatically while on the cell phone. Answering a texts takes approximately five seconds: the time it takes to travel
