In addition, they may be aware that new guidance has been issued but don’t know how their current way of working needs to change to ensure they provide the best care for patients in line with the guidance. Motivation is a fundamental part of nearly everything we do. External factors can drive motivation and change behaviour, for example, for some carers who are not motivated because they knew that the purpose of certain trainings that are needed to attend are useless due to the reason that not everybody is practicing it in actual field, or maybe due to the fact that it is not paid for the number of hours. External factors can drive motivation and change behaviour, for example, the provision of incentives or penalties imposed as part of regulatory checks. But internal factors, such as
Be aware of dilemmas that may arise about Duty of Care and the support available for addressing them 2.1 Describe dilemmas that may arise between the Duty of Care and an individual’s right You may have a case as a care worker where an individual may want to do something which could be a risk to their own health and safety. It’s your duty of care to do all you can to keep them safe but you also have the duty to respect them as an individual. This causes a dilemma. An example of this is a resident no longer wanting to use her Zimmer Frame, but in her care plan it states that she uses it to help her move
Because there is only one income, financial issues arise. This tends to cause stress when learning to juggle all of the bills with one paycheck. Communication with the important people in my life is also a struggle personally due to having an independent personality. Learning to swallow a little pride has been a hard lesson to accept. Managing as a single parent overall is a big job.
In my personal opinion and from the view point as a substance abuse center, a case manager helps the client identify personal skills, abilities, and assets through discussion; supports client decision making so that the client sets treatment goals and determines how the goals will be met; encourages client participation in seeking assistance; and works to resolve any client barriers to treatment, such as lack of transportation, child care, and social support. The case manager also advocates with treatment providers and the case manager strives to develop a strong working alliance with the client, which is central to the process of finding substance abuse treatment services effectively. Everyone has a different background when it comes to ethics and case management; all these things are affected by life experience and also bring an individual’s framework into that situation. However, in order to provide effective and timely treatment, the therapist must understand and motivate each family member interactions (Nichols, 2010). According to Nichols (2010), it is important to reiterate the initial phone call so that everyone will know and understand why they are in therapy. In order to build alliance in the Rodney’s family session, I must first build trust in me as a therapist. This will allow them to open up and express their feelings. As a counselor, I should also have and use a strategic plan.
The other problem is that there is not enough treatment here in American Samoa to cure our people, so the option for other people is to pay their air fare and go to the state in searching for the treatment that they need. Last issue is the expenses of medicine, most people rely on it to live but they could not afford it if there is not enough money. Hospital bills expenses are basically the problem that will not let other people be in the hospital. They can get stressed by figuring out a way to eliminate the bills so they could be eligible to get help from the hospital again. There should be a way to help the community on these there needs for paying their bills.
Income has always been a concern for families and losing one income can be devastating to a family, and on the other hand there is the single mother that really does not have a choice, but to go to work and support her child. The loss of income could mean that the family cannot meet their basic needs such as housing, food, clothing and additional worries of saving for the future such as college expenses and retirement. Families might also have concerns about future employment if mom decides to leave the current workforce. The work force seems to be constantly changing; consequently, making future employment harder to come by when mom is ready or a need arises to return to work. Some would argue that the cost of child care is too great and the income generated by the working mom is not worth the cost or the time lost with the child.
