Unit 201 – Manage Own Performance In A Business Environment Section 1: understand how to plan work and be accountable to others and being 1.1 Outline guidelines, procedures codes of practice relevant to personal work. In the office where I work we have a book that must be signed as soon as I enter the building and when I leave that way my manager is aware who is in the building at a given time and when they leave either throughout the day or at the end of it. We also have to take regular short breaks as lots of computer work is involved so for health and safety reasons the breaks are necessary in case any impediment to eyesight may occur. We must also make sure any computers are turned off when they aren’t in use in case any confidential information in private documents are seen by somebody unauthorised to see the documents. 1.2 Explain the purpose of planning work, and being accountable to others for own work. Planning is an essential part of working as it enables you to work as efficiently as possible. Writing out a plan before setting about the task at hand makes it very easy to do the job as quickly and efficiently as possible as it means that you already know exactly what you need to do and you will already be aware of the information that you have to gather instead of getting stuck in the middle of the job and having to do the research then. Also it is useful to keep a copy or a record of any plans or lists that you create that way if you are asked to produce work that you have done to your supervisor you can do so, this means that your work will be accounted for and you can access it any time you need it. 1.3 Explain the purpose and benefits of agreeing realistic targets for work Realistic targets are very important as it means that everybody is aware of what they have to work towards meaning that they can find ways to reach the
