The Value of Education Education plays a very important role in our lives. It is not to torture us by making us sit in class for hours at a time, but to ensure us the opportunity to make the most out of ourselves. Very few people succeed in life without a good educational foundation, so it is important to stay in school and make the most out of it. Education brings more than just book smarts, but also knowledge of the world around you and the tools necessary to make a comfortable and happy living. Everyone, no matter what background or race wants to enjoy life. We all want to be happy, feel safe and comfortable. Education is something that can help ensure all of those things. In general, more education means more money, greater employment options and better job security. Job security is of great importance throughout life. It is something that keeps a roof over our heads and food in our stomachs. But without an education, a chance at a job that can support the needs of yourself, or in most cases yourself and others, is nearly impossible. On average, a college degree is worth an extra twenty five thousand dollars a year. That is equivalent to an extra two thousand dollars a month or five hundred a week. College graduates made an average of fifty two thousand dollars in two thousand four and those with advanced degrees made almost eighty thousand dollars. As you can see, an education brings many benefits to the table in the long run, you just have to have the patience and willingness to do what may seem difficult at the time; in order to gain so much more from it in the future. Seventy Five percent of jobs are likely to want employees with at least a license or certificate. This is proof to the hiring companies that you put forth the effort and had the willingness to learn and to grow in order to receive the rewards in the end. On average, a
