Some people deserve a second chance, but it shouldn’t be given to someone that doesn’t show effort towards school. If someone is failing a class you can’t always blame the student. You have to put in perspective that the teacher could be bad at teaching,or perhaps the student missed a lot of class due to being sick,or maybe the class is just too hard. So however, handing out extra credit could be tolerable to the students that show effort, and not to the students who mess around in class. One reason a student should receive extra credit to pass, is that they have trouble with that one specific subject.
For example, responsibility is required in order to graduate by being loyal to your work ethic and effort. But if a person has no motivation to handle commitment or to pursue effort then the virtue of responsibility will not grow in them and they will not be able to succeed and grow maturely. Therefore, the slack of that person will become a habit and they will have a hard time growing in responsibility and maturity later in life. It appears that testing is a waste of time, but in reality, it prepares students for future success. Another question that occurs is: What are students gaining from these different tests each year? Many people debate whether the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) is considered to be pointless. Maybe these tests are teaching students accountability and responsibility, two vital tools for success in life. So it is very important that the trainer chooses his words carefully in order to be clear about the learner’s achievements, progress or areas of improvement (Gravells, 2013). Constructive feedback should be more descriptive instead of evaluative. Feedback, to be constructive, cannot be limited to an evaluative sentence like “Congratulation, you’ve passed”. Although the learner might be glad he has passed, it will not give them any information about what the learner has done correctly, how they have achieved the goals and objectives and what areas can they improve. Using descriptive feedback instead of evaluative it will give an opportunity for the learner to realise what he needs to adjust or improve to achieve the desired outcome (Gravells, 2013).
It would not be able to cut back his hours and taking a class that is not required would take a lot of his time. The Study Skills class requires note taking in his current classes. This would allow him to put more attention on the note taking and possible less understanding of the material for the specific class. Which could possibly distract him and lose his focus. The student may grow with negative attitude to teacher and course, which prevents the student to absorb knowledge. Students prefer to learn by themselves.
Therefore, if our family places a great deal of emphasis on education and its importance, we focus on getting good grades more than we focus on our athletic or artistic abilities, and may include intelligent as an attribute when describing ourselves to other people. Our self-concept would probably be focused on studious tendencies and smarts. When we don’t excel in the area of education, we may try to hide our grades and avoid talking about schooling with others because we feel bad about this. This would create low self-esteem. On the other hand, if our parents and siblings tell us that grades don’t matter as long as we try our very best, we may not have any problems telling others we failed a test when we studied for hours preparing for it.
In order for Jake to feel less anxious about his performance in these classes, the rewards for his good or bad performance in the class need to be altered. A cognitive approach is often considered to be the opposite of behavioral. A cognitive analysis on a person would not focus on the external, but internal effects on a person. Basically, it is the person’s thinking or interpretation of situations in their life that affects their behavior.
