Unit one also taught me to reevaluate how important certain priorities when it came to writing. I learned from the other unit one authors, Joseph M. Williams and James E. Porter, that when an essay is read by someone who is looking for grammatical error or plagiarism instead of content, they will often find the error and ignore the content. Although I do still know the importance of grammar and originality, this class and the grading style has let me put those constructs in the back seat until the editing process, instead of making them something I had to constantly worry about. I don’t believe that good writing revolves around grammar, but rather how well your words can convey a message to the intended audiences.
We continue to learn and strengthen our skills as we grow. B) I learned that I may not always be good at expressing my thoughts. I have learned that I am better at writing out what I feel. I guess I can get more out that way. I have the opportunity to reread what I have written and then make corrections so that the point that I am getting at is full understood by the reader.
I know a lot of words; I just don’t use them in my everyday conversation, thus making it more difficult to incorporate in my essay. The other parts I was dissatisfied with were my introduction and conclusion. After the revision of my paper I noticed they needed tremendous work. Therefore, I completely changed the introduction and conclusion completely to better fit my essay. Sincerely, Kimberly
Rebecca Laessig My Life as a Writer I don't consider myself to be the greatest writer. My grammar has a lot to be improved upon and I always seem to be at a loss for words. with that said, writing is a bit of a challenge for me. I don't hate writing, but I don't necessarily enjoy it either. in my paper, I will write about my accomplishments, routine writings, and major strengths and how they help develop my writing skills today.
I have always just gave myself the excuse that I am not a good writer and that’s how I am going to live. After reading chapter one I recognize that I have been letting myself live without giving myself a chance to catch up and learn what I need to know about the subject. After learning what is taught to me in this class I will need to keep using my new writing skills or they will be lost. My strengths are reading and understanding the assignment, typing the paper on the computer and generating creative writing skills. My weakness are using correct English grammar and punctuation, staying on topic and citing and references.
I had to disregard a lot of information that was not entirely relevant to my research question. Also at times the content was vague, and the ideas did not always follow logically. I used Study Support to develop my writing skills, but wished I had approached them for help at an earlier stage, as this would have saved me a considerable amount of stress. To conclude, the dissertation assignment has improved my confidence in my ability, through producing a lengthy piece of work. I feel it has effectively concluded the academic phase, and I am excited and motivated by the prospect of getting a job in the fashion
My second issue would be my ability to proofread. I always miss something when I proof read, once my other half reads it, he finds it right away, but I just cannot see all of my own errors. I would say my third problem is tone. Sometimes I am not sure which tone to use and if it is being conveyed correctly. I plan to work on all of these things, I am sure this class will help me learn all the skills needed to make my papers better.
From the beginning of English 1301, I have gained the appropriate skills and variety of knowledge in writing. I've learned different ways to make my writing effective through techniques taught throughout the semester. From "showing" instead of "telling", interpreting the rhetorical triangle, and using rhetorical devices, I have learned to use all of these skills effectively in my writing. One skill I was able to to use effectively was learning got to "show" instead of "tell". Before this class had began, I was accustomed to writing essays with narrow ideas.
Introduction Writing essay is not easy thing to do. Selecting an appropriate topic, making an outline, organizing every sentences and paragraphs become unity and coherence are not enough to produce an essay inasmuch as writers have to be able to narrate and describe their argument, experience and knowledge in their writing in which it can attract the readers to take a look, enjoy their writing and feel satisfied when they finish reading the essay. For some cases, some writers narrate and describe their arguments, experience and knowledge even fact in an essay by offering something special with those things in order to attract and make the readers become satisfied with the essay. Unfortunately, something special in an essay , it can be special
That weakness of mine is reading. For some reason when I have to read a book or an article of something, I seen to lose all my focus and everything goes haywire. Stuff like that makes me want to quit school but I can’t because quitting school is rubbish. Then sometimes I feel like I am wasting my time with all these classes because some never seem to satisfy my learning style. So, no matter what your personal style tends to
