The government needs to be stricter when it comes to product inspections. 2 weeks ago Georgia Peanut company were caught selling salmonella-infested peanut butter to the public. according to the CBS news article on the subject, “Former peanut corporation of America owner, Stewart Parnell was convicted on numerous counts including conspiracy, wire fraud and obstruction of justice related to shipping tainted peanut butter to customers.”. Stewart Parnell knew about the tainted peanuts, but shipped it to customers anyway. The peanuts failed the safety inspection and Parnell made an effort to hide the evidence.
The Outsiders, by Se Hinton, was very different from the movie the Outsiders. The book gave a lot move description but I’m glad I saw the movie to get the actual picture in my head. I don’t think people should by separate by the way they look or how much money they have. All people have feelings. If the movie had more detail it would be more interesting.
Though being serious topic you wouldn’t think that satire would create a standing argument but Fridman proves us wrong by making his point and opinion pop right out of the passage. This helps support the writing by attracting more readers though his unrealistic writing for the subject. Fridman connects to his readers through pathos, as many can relate this passage to their unpopular but successful experience in high school or even middle school. This association between the readers and the writing generates more feedback and interest of his work. As he says, “it is a high time to face the persecutors who haunt the bright kid with thick glasses from kindergarten to the grave.” The bullying, the teasing, and the harassing for their abilities and their “disgusting taste” must be stopped, as stated in his writing.
If I were to live in the Puritan times I would be living in a peaceful area with my family I would still worship God in my house but will be no part of any drama. Puritans were bad when it came down to rumors. They would have the whole village talking non-sense, thinking you were a witch flying through the air. Another example from the Crucible that shows their
In the 1950's, however, people were terrified of the red Communists coming to take over their beloved country. Senator McCarthy was the one taking out other people in the govornment that he suspected to be a communist via inprisonment. The witch trials and McCarthyism started differently as well, for one started with a group of young girls' voodoo practice and the other started when senator McCarthy was trying to win an election and took advantage of the peoples feelings toward the "Red scare." A lot of the evil things McCarthyism did were private and behind closed govornment doors. During the Salem Witch Trials the accused people were forced to make a public confession and be killed in front of their family and friends.
My favorite verse from that section was Exodus 21:22-25. I had never heard of the premature fine or retaliation and it is very interesting because it does paint a perfect picture that even in biblical times it was not okay to abort. My favorite part from the philosophical section was when they talked about quality of life as a reason for abortion. I liked the example the article gave of May, Jesus’s mother. She was poor and had a baby that was not her husbands, yet she decided to keep it and it was the savior of the world.
No matter the topic; history, sports, politics, media, sexuality, etc., The Boondocks will be very truthful and blunt about it. I’ve been watching The Boondocks since it started in 2005 and this show defines me because of its comedic way of telling the truth about society. With my views about the media I really don’t like to believe “the hype” or any of the publicity stunts that go on too often. Sometimes I think the government is full of conspiracies and I find it easy to point out irony, and hypocrisy like Huey. He even took a stand against B.E.T.
I like to imagine myself leading a group of struggled individuals while risking myself for them. I guess it's a dream habit that comes after seeing one too many action films. To my perspective, being the hero and becoming victorious always feels better and influences you reach that heroic point in imagination through actuality. Even though I wish not to, dreams of love or undoing the past come to me as well. The best way to keep yourself in check with reality is to dream is to never to dream about falsifications.
Gluttony was one of the seven deadly sins (along with pride, greed, envy, anger, lust, and sloth), which Christian theologians have been denouncing for nearly 1500 years (University) to little effect. While Critser insists that “no one should be stigmatized for being overweight,” he advocates “stigmatizing the unhealthful behaviors that cause obesity” (66), assuming that people distinguish between the sin and the sinner. In practice, people rarely do. Critser does little to distance himself from anti-fat bias after introducing the bias-heavy term “gluttony” into the essay--which is a mistake: the overweight and obese have a hard enough time losing weight. They should not have to suffer the judgments of those who suggest “that thinness signals self-discipline and self-respect, whereas fatness signals self-contempt and lack of resolve” (Worley).
The way I feel is why tell kids if we don’t even realize it ourselves? I never sat there once and thought um maybe scar from lion king is a homo sexual because of the way he sang or walked? How can you sit there watching a child’s film and think that I feel that’s wrong to even look at a Disney film that way but that’s the way she feels and I can’t change her opinion of that. But another thing I have a problem with that she says that gave her clues that scar was a homo sexual was when simba first said “you’re so weird Uncle Scar” then scar comes back and replies with “You have no idea”. She says with the tone of voice he said with makes it look like he is a homo sexual, I think she is saying that because he said with a very mysterious tone and sounded weird but of course it’s going to sound like that when he’s planning to kill his brother.
