In the book the Party may have controlled all the aspects of peoples lives, but nowadays we choose our government, and we can overthrow them as well if necessary. The Party did use torture machines to punish those who broke the rules. Those machines are considered a bad aspect of technology, and I would have to agree. That is just one way of many that technology could be used for evil.

Out of all the life skills I have learned, discipline has been the one that I have benefited from the most. I have acquired a lot of discipline through drill and ceremonies.
That was another reason why him becoming a rocket scientist was a good thing. Homer is also people smart which suits his career because in that career it requires one to always be talking with others to solve problems and it also requires one to have good communication skills. Homer had all of those skills, he was always talking to people like Mr bytowksi, Queiten , Ms. riley etc. for help with his rocket problem. Plus he also talked to different people during science fair and he was able to explain the rocket propulsion system properly to everyone, which shows how he had good communication skills.
