Gun Control Persuasive Essay A shot is fired in the city streets and the cries of the helpless, hopeless and innocent go unheard. Once the sound of security, the voice of authority, has become the dark and blood curdling echo of a demon, one that we as a nation have created and if not controlled, will ultimately spiral into the highest handgun crime rate of teenagers, ever recorded(It is not about guns anymore it is about, maintaining control, protecting the well being of the youth and innocent of this country by making well educated decisions to maintain order. Lets talk about America, Canada’s neighbors’ to the south, the voice of democracy, a country who is depicted as the land of the free and a home to the brave. Americans, not much different than Canadians, love and care about family, go to work in order to pay bills and want the protection of their rights and freedoms that were passed down by the founding fathers of their great nation. So I pose the question, what makes Canadians so different, and why does Canada have far fewer deaths by the gun, despite over 1.8 million registered gun owners?1 This issue stands out like a sore thumb, but I believe I know what separates Canada from the United States of America, the fact that America is a nation that is shrouded in deception and run by leaders that instill fear.
Gun control doesn't work look at Chicago for instance they have some of the highest crime rates but yet they have some of the strictest gun laws. Gun control increases violence, gun control makes everyone more susceptible to attacks, and gun control takes away the rights of U.S citizens. Let's start out with a little history. During WWII Hitler took away all the guns of civilian and then he killed six million Jews
Which seems nearly impossible. Everyone with a history of a criminal record should be prohibited from owning a gun no matter what the crime is. I feel like it’s fair and even though everyone’s criminal record might not be as bad as someone else’s I still think it would be for the best. I still highly doubt that doing a background check on people would reduce the violence because getting a gun these days is very easy. People can literally get them from anywhere.
I feel that handguns and assault weapons should be outlawed altogether because too many people misuse them. It is a tragedy that the United States being the most highly advanced nation in all respects ranks number one in homicide
He had blamed Iraq to be holding terrorists, he had made America believe that Iraq had been under Saddam Hussein’s clutches and that whatever he had to say was law. President Bush had stated in his speech that, “Saddam Hussein is harboring terrorists and the instruments of terror, the instruments of terror of mass death and destruction, and he cannot be trusted. The risk is simply too great that he will use them or provide them to a terror network”. He had made Americans believe that Hussein was creating weapons and developing a nuclear weapon so that he could “blackmail” the world. President Bush had not trusted Saddam Hussein and he didn’t want rest of America to either.
In fact, the thirty one states that follow the “shall issue” laws (the law to conceal weapons) “have on average, a twenty four percent lower violent crime rate, a nineteen percent lower murder rate, and a thirty nine percent lower robbery rate than states that forbid concealed weapons.” The nine states with the lowest violent crime rates all have right to carry laws. (http//:www.cato.org) Gun control laws do not work; it is not a theoretical statement, but a statistically proven one. Despite it being an incredibly corny line: “Guns don’t kill people, people kill people,” or “When guns are outlawed, only the outlaws will have guns.” These statements are essentially true; saying that a gun kills a person is like saying that the car, not the drunk driver, drove itself into a head on collision with a school bus. It is true however, that the person yielding the gun is the killer, not the gun itself. For fucking Christ’s sake it’s an
Banning or restricting guns does not necessarily mean there would be less crime. There are more factors to increased gun violence than simply accessibility. Furthermore, although outlawing guns could possibly decrease firearm related casualties. One must realize that it is highly probable that this would increase injuries connected to crimes. I absolutely agree with the current laws prohibiting felons from possessing a firearm as well as making sure guns are out of a child’s reach.
"You won't get gun control by disarming law-abiding citizens. There's only one way to get real gun control: Disarm the thugs and the criminals, lock them up and if you don't actually throw away the key, at least lose it for a long time... It's a nasty truth, but those who seek to inflict harm are not fazed by gun controllers. I happen to know this from personal experience." This is a quote from President Ronald Reagan in 1983 after surviving his assassination attempt in 1981.
These people point to guns as the direct cause of such criminal acts as homicide and domestic violence. The truth is, however, that a gun is just a tool; without the operator the gun or the tool can’t do anything. The gun can’t put bullets in itself and the gun can’t pull its own trigger. It is the people that use the guns that are the real problem. While it is true that guns are involved in thousands of deaths per year in the United States, there are things that lead to far more deaths than guns.
The reduction of the crime rates following the reduction of gun-related violence can be used to justify gun control. However, the official statistics does not support this assumption. The reasoning that guns cause crimes arises numerous disputations, as it does not consider that guns are just another mean of committing a crime. Pro-gun advocates usually assert, “Guns do not kill people; people kill people.” The Vice President, Wayne Lapierre argued that the best solution to the Newton Massacre was to allow citizens to own guns. He stated”The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun” (Spitzer,
