From San Diego’s incredible beaches, comfortable climate, and variety of hiking trails, to it’s vast array of dining options. San Diego is infamous for it’s sports teams such as The San Diego Chargers and the San Diego Padres. A native past time of this great city is sports bar dining. The San Diego Padres’ pitcher Randy Jones, retired from professional baseball, and opened up Randy Jones Sports Bar and Grill. The walls are filled with sports memorabilia and flat screen TVs playing local and large sporting events. The staff’s uniforms are in perfect harmony with the sports bar image. Overall the ambiance provides desired results. The menu is overwhelming; it’s full of sports bar classics like: wings, frys, burgers, and nachos. The menu also provides healthy options like salads, grilled chicken substitutes, humus plates and carrot plates. It is not uncommon for a patron to spend a large portion of his or her time determining which items to order. The burgers are all named after local sports teams with the exception of one, the Raider’s Burger (Veggie Burger). With the enormous variety, there is no shortage of options for any customer. The backbone of any business is its employees. In a customer service orientated industry, one could expect a customer service orientated staff. Randy Jones Sports Bar and Grill with its inviting, classic sports bar ambiance and incredible menu, fails in the customer service department. Patrons are subject to watching their waitress or bartender socialize with other associates and can observe the manager’s attention being occupied by a subordinate in a flirtatious manner. From flat screen TVs in every direction, its extravagantly broad menu, to Randy Jones’ attractive staff. One can easily be filled with high expectations, and a feeling of excitement for the experience to come off of first impressions alone. Though the first impression can be impressive, Randy Jones Sports bar and Grill leaves its patrons feeling neglected, almost as if they had been sold a lemon. Randy Jones Sports Bar and Grill is not a great dining experience, and it is clear that management is not making implementing any structure to provide a full San Diego sports bar
