Nearly fifty percent of all new business’ fail within the first five years. Some fail because of the economy and lack of financial planning, but the majority of failures are due to poor business management. I have been in management for the last 20 years, in one form or another. I have a good deal of knowledge of what it takes to thrive in business. Ideal business people thrive because of qualities like integrity, communication, and empathy. One of the qualities of an ideal business person would be integrity. Integrity is the quality of possessing and adhering to high moral and professional principles. People with this quality draw others to them because of their trustworthiness and dependability. This person will always do the right thing even when no one is watching. Everyone will know what this person will do and will usually trust in the decision that would be made in a given situation. An ideal business person would stand by his commitments and take responsibility for them, even if they proved to be less than perfect. This, to me, is one of the most important qualities because it must be kept. Once you compromise your integrity, you will most certainly will never get it back. A person of integrity will have an easier time communicating to his audience because everyone will want to hear what is being conveyed. Another important quality of equal importance would be communication. Communication is a major part of business in the world today. It is through communication that everyone in an organization is connected, from the entry level employee to the CEO of the organization. With proper communication, objectives, projects, and goals are achieved in an efficient manner. Communication skills are essential to a productive environment through conveying ideas, thoughts, and sentiment. Using communication skills one can gain insight into others’
