“I’m going on a diet.” How often have you casually tossed around these five words? In today’s society many Bahamians are putting on weight and it is becoming uncontrollable. People put on weight because they become lazy. When they put on too much weight they become sick. People develop sugar, high blood pressure, cancer, heart disease all because of putting on too much weight. Most persons do not know how to lose their weight. When you put on weight it takes away your pride and self confidence. People become ashamed of themselves and appearance. Most persons are gaining weight because they are indiscipline and do not exercise, while others are putting on weight because lack of sleep. However there are 4 solutions for this problem. People need to exercise more, eat healthy, become discipline and confident, and get sufficient sleep and relax. The first step to losing weight is doing more exercise. Many persons are reluctant to take this step, but physical exercises work very well in diminishing pounds. Statistics prove that swimming, cycling and weight-lifting are 3 ideal sports which help with weight loss. Swimming is a good sport for those who want to lose weight. You only need to swim about one to two hours a week to help this problem. Person should also divide the exercise into small parts for the first few times because your body may not be familiar with long practice yet. If persons can add cycling to their exercise schedule, it will help tremendously. By going cycling you can burn off calories. Cycling about five to ten kilometers a day is very helpful for the task. If you can, you should do weight-lifting. This sport is the best and fastest way to burn fat. However, it may be dangerous if you do it the wrong way or so seriously.
