Personalized Nutrition and Exercise Plan Mary J House University of Phoenix Sci 241 September 5, 2012 Eating right and getting the proper amount of physical activity each day can be a lot harder to do than it seems. It is though entirely possible to eat right and have a good exercise regimen. It just takes having the tools and the willpower to put it into action and stick to it. I know that to be healthy I need to change the way I eat and get more exercise, and I now have the knowledge to do so. I now just need to muster up the courage and willpower to make some healthy changes to my diet and exercise routines. I have also been trying to only eat wheat bread instead of white and eat and instead of eating sugary cereals I have been trying to eat oatmeal and fresh fruit so that is a plus for me. Making sure that I get the proper exercise is just as important as eating right when it comes to my battle with obesity I am trying to concentrate on a mixture of cardio and strength training exercises. I am doing the strength training because building muscle makes us burn calories faster, simply because our muscles burn more calories than our fat even when we are just resting. My cardio exercises are things I can do as I age because they can be changed to match my changing needs. I will be able to continue my cardio exercise routine for the rest of my life as long as my physical and mental health allows. My cardio exercises are going to include walking, jogging, using a treadmill and elliptical machine, swimming and low impact aerobics. The things that I cannot do at home or outside because of bad weather are available to me at my gym, so there is no reason that I cannot stick to my plan. My family has a history of diabetes, cancer, heart disease and lung disease. Obesity is a major cause of all of these problems. If I change my diet and exercise pattern now then I have a chance of lowering my risk of getting these diseases from my life. My new exercise and diet are only going tio be the beginning for me. I plan on living a much healthier and fulfilling life. I am the only one that has the power to change my life and thanks to this class I now have the knowledge and tools that I need to live a much healthier lifestyle. I just need to utilize them. I want to live as long as I can and be healthy so that I can play with and enjoy my grandkids. Being healthy will only increase my happiness and being happy is important to both my mental and physical well being. I know that I will feel and look 100% better inside and out.
