It can be dangerous without command and control, because no one would be prepared or not know how to act when an incident occurs. Commanders have a lot of responsibility keeping their teams performing efficiently and safely, as well as displaying qualities and skills needed to be in a position of giving tasks to their teams. The implications of this on the services are far reaching due to the fact there is the ever current risk to the lives of serving soldiers who are in combat or an area of global instability. They may be seriously killed or injured by the enemy, by civilians who resent the military presence or even by friendly fire. Several factors such as religion, status, hierarchy, and appearance are influenced by the culture that the officers belong to and this could lead to miscommunication at any time. Physical barriers like cubicles or walls do not allow the conversation to be as free-flowing as it would be if these barriers didn’t exist. Overcoming these barriers at work is not possible if the individuals involved does not know what is causing them. Each person working in the law enforcement agency needs to understand the importance of effective communication and strive to achieve it (Mahigel, 1975). Only when this takes place can those working within the department achieve a healthy and successful working environment.
Even ironing their uniform or clothes is classed as discipline. On drill they are disciplined to march and listen to commands being shouted by higher ranking soldiers.Why do we need discipline?The need for discipline in the Public Services is very important. If the uniformed public services did not have discipline and rules about the way their employees should behave, then they would be free to do anything they wanted and be able to get away with it without consequences. If there was no discipline targets would not be met and jobs would not be done properly.What is the role of discipline? The rules and regulations are the foundation of the uniformed public services, and discipline ensures that these rules and regulations are followed.
In my opinion, I totally agree that there should be discipline within any of the uniformed public services as it ensures that each service is run efficiently. Members of the uniformed public services must have a very high level of self-discipline if they want to continue to have the public's trust in them, otherwise there wouldn't be any point to have these public services if the public don't even trust them as they wouldn't be relying on these services for help. This in my opinion could lead to the general public getting into more danger as there wouldn't be anyone to help with the situation. Discipline also helps the members of the uniformed public services to gain respect as well as having respect for others. Having discipline, especially in the uniformed public services furthermore helps to make the members follow the rules and regulations seriously and accordingly in order to maintain their good reputation and trust of the general
Also the adversarial system is important to in the fact that they help listen to cases. The post-arrest is also important because if things aren't done right then no post-arrest will be able to have a post arrest. So you see all of these things are important to anyone, and the government. But as you can see there are so many things that help the people in protecting their rights and making sure that when the initial crime happens that everything goes according to the law so nothing gets messed and the criminal ends getting off because of some mess ups that happened during the process. In my report I am going to explain why discipline is needed in the Public Services. I will also give a definition of what discipline is and what the consequences of lack of discipline are by justifying the roles of discipline in the Uniformed Services.
