Orders are an essential part of the public services as they take care of the safety of other people and allows for minimum mistakes to happen. Rules, regulations and orders all work together to ensure that everything which needs gets done in the correct way. An example of this would be being in dangerous situations in Afghanistan and being disciplined, the soldiers are following the rules in order to save their lives as well as others. The role that discipline plays within the public services is that it creates these qualities in the service
P1 - Explain the need for and role of discipline in the uniformed public services Discipline is needed in the uniform public service such as the HM Prison Service and the British Army in order to create efficient and effective well-structured operational teams, which allows the services to achieve there operational gaols and objectives. The role of Discipline within the services is that installs team spirit, sense of honour and duty within its members which will bind them closely together which is important when their team mates are in danger and in need, they will put their own life at risk to help them. We have looked at two contrasting public services with two different examples of how discipline is important within them the services that we will be looking at are; Her Majesties Prison Service The HM Prison service needs to have well-disciplined officers to deal with high intense and stressful situation that can occur, for example – in a hostage situation prison officers need to have the self-discipline not to panic to remain in control and handle the situation professionally. They have to work with very difficult and trying people that may have committed some of the worst crimes imaginable , this is why discipline it is so important for officers to have high standards of discipline, British Army The British army need to have well-disciplined officers and soldiers within its
In my report I am going to explain why discipline is needed in the Public Services. I will also give a definition of what discipline is and what the consequences of lack of discipline are by justifying the roles of discipline in the Uniformed Services. I will also explain how it is used and why the Public Services need discipline along with rules and regulations to do their jobs efficiently. Discipline is a state of order and obedience existing within the uniformed services. In my opinion, I totally agree that there should be discipline within any of the uniformed public services as it ensures that each service is run efficiently. Members of the uniformed public services must have a very high level of self-discipline if they want to continue to have the public's trust in them, otherwise there wouldn't be any point to have these public services if the public don't even trust them as they wouldn't be relying on these services for help. This in my opinion could lead to the general public getting into more danger as there wouldn't be anyone to help with the situation. Discipline also helps the members of the uniformed public services to gain respect as well as having respect for others. Having discipline, especially in the uniformed public services furthermore helps to make the members follow the rules and regulations seriously and accordingly in order to maintain their good reputation and trust of the general

I must follow and adhere to the correct companies policies and procedures and provide a standard of care in line with the principle ‘codes of practice’ in all aspects of my work. This includes acting in the best interests of the patients and ensuring their health, safety and welfare.

The definitions • Legislation is a law or group of laws • Policies is a document explaining the expected standards • Procedures are instructions about how to carry out a particular task Policies legislation and procedures are put in place in order to protect not only the service users but also the staff and employers there are many ways that they do ensure the wellbeing and safety of the staff and people who use the services. They all provide a strict set of rules in which everyone should follow at all times, in order to make sure that one persons mistake does not influence or effect someone else or the service user . If it found that someone isn’t adhering to the rules and regulations set there should be a set discipline in place. Health and safety at work act ~ (hasaw) This is a legislation put into place to safeguard all individuals in the health care setting. This act is enforced by the Health and Safety executive.
