Politicians have stated thy will introduce new laws wanting tougher background checks, forced registration, and outright banning of military looking firearms. All these types of new laws will cut down on crime and make this country a safer place. But I believe the way to protect against a bad person with a gun is a good person with a gun. First of all on the issue of it will cut down on violent crime, who are they kidding criminals rarely obey laws; studies show most criminals acquire guns through friends or theft. Adam Lanza the shooter at Newtown stole the guns he used from his mother.
Teens will act out and eventually try to rebel. It is apart of the “growing up” process everyone goes through. To ask the media to remove every possible act of violence it spots is not realistic. Instead, we should ask the parents of these teens to help make a greater change, going family by family, teen by teen. There might be just one show that can lead a teen into drugs or decide to make him/her to join a gang and maybe, one parent preventing this teen from watching “this” show, or stopping them from seeing “that” movie, will make a safer world.
It is important at a young age they get the education and role models that will guide them to make the right decisions in their future. Children also need to be taught to say “no” to risky situations. It is not only influences that guide teenagers to drink and drive or to ride with a drunk driver but also gender and behavior. The more risky behavior a teenager partakes in, the more likely they are to drink and drive. Teenage drinking and driving fatalities have been going down, but it is still one of the leading causes of deaths in adolescents.
Reading various news articles about teenagers here in America it seems that more and more times teenagers have fights that led to murder more often than not. I think schools, in every degree should pay attention and educate more Americans on the subject, and try to help decrease the manner that people will regret what they have done after they have done something bad. Parents as a rule don’t want their child to be aggressive, and careless. A good role model is one of the important things adults can do to help develop good teenage behavior. To form a good behavior for teen, parents should perceive what or whom their kids admire and whether it’s in his/her better interest, or
Try to convince your children
that smoking is not cool. Talk to your kids at a young age about the
dangers of smoking. Identify family members who smoke and ask them to
stop (Thomas). Children are the most valuable commodity we are given
in life. Let's try to educate them while they're young to be
independent thinkers and to not be swayed by the tobacco companies who
are trying to take advantage of their mind and body.
Unfortunately it seems there is more our society can do to help prevent this trend. Drugs are a growing problem with teenagers in our society because parents and the community do not provide enough drug education. Conclusion This trend is in a spiral whirlwind out of control within our youth in society. There are so many educational plans and information to educate the students, parents, school administrators and society as a whole. With the danger explained in detail to teenagers and also teaching how to stand up to peer pressure, this will provide extra assurance and confidence within the teenagers to stand up for their belief in not participating in drugs.
Communicating with your child is very important when practicing effective parenting. Communication will keep the parent up to date on how their child feels about life. When children are on the news because they have committed suicide and the parents don’t know why, it could possibly be because communication was not a strong role played between the parent and the child. The first step of communicating with your child could be when he or she wakes up in the morning. It will mean a lot to a child for their parent to say “Good morning, how are you feeling?”, “Are you excited about anything today?”, “I hope you have a wonderful day today.” This will communicate to your child that you
I think that the first way we could maybe tackle the problems is by giving parents a talk about Neds and Ned culture. I also think that if parents don’t know what their kids are doing and their doing something wrong the police should take them home and talk to their parents I think that the parents with drink and drug problems could be giving help like making their kids stay with another member of their family while their parents are in rehab. Another way Neds could be stopped is bringing things to do in to the communities so they are not hanging about the streets I think “Out of control British teens the worst behaved in Europe” article i a little bit more for teens because the text isn’t exaggerated like “Night of the living neds” article. It focuses on the positives rather than the negatives. For example like when they mention the possibility of more cash for youth groups and other activities.
Jeremy De La Cruz Pre AP English 2B Mrs. Brogan 23 April 2013 Word Count: 500 Will Gun Laws Stop Future School Shootings? The saying “Guns don’t kill people, people kill people” has always been said. With recent school shootings, many people are wondering if gun laws will prevent future shootings. Gun laws will only keep guns out of the hands of bystanders who could stop the shooting, and allow criminals to easily kill innocent children. Gun laws pertaining to schools prevent people from saving more lives and stopping shootings in the making.
Then, some projects also appeared initially to have important successes in reducing youth gun-violence. The most common response to youth gun violence has often been intended to punish to make sure that people obey a particular law or rule and to prevent aggressive crime control, and ultimately, every costly approach which increases social exclusion and may make a worse situation with it. Thus, if you want to stop gun culture - you need to start to keep the kids- as young as possible- on the right track (BBC News). For example, in Michael Carneal’s case, a 10th grader who watched a movie, ''Basketball Diaries'' (which includes a violent school shooting) killed three girls and injured five other students when he opened fire on a prayer group at Heath High School in West Paducah, Ky., on Dec. 1, 1997( New York Times). Thus, what we have to do is to keep the children to stay away from the violent games and movies, because that is what will have the effect too much on young
