Effective preschool classrooms are places where children feel well cared for and safe. They are places where children are valued as individuals and where their needs for attention, approval, and affection are supported. They are also places where children can be helped to acquire a strong foundation in the knowledge and skills needed for school success. Research shows beyond question that it is through having many opportunities to talk as well as to listen to teachers and peers that children gain language skills so valuable for their success in reading and writing. The more children know about their world, the easier it is for them to read and learn when they get to school.
Good communication skills are essential for early childhood educators. This essay outlines how good communication skills provide advancement in student skill, through proper practices of collaboration between childhood educators, students, and parents through good communication. Classroom communication can be defined as a process of information shared that consists of verbal and nonverbal transactions between teacher and students, or between and among students, in a classroom setting (Kearns, 2012, p.33). Firstly, this forms the basis of skills essential for educators to increase student educational success. Secondly, children increase social and cognitive development from positive influences that are communicated by teachers.
To make a positive environment for children it has to be exciting, something that will engage their attention and make them want to be there and spend time there. In our setting, we try to make a child’s experience exciting for them from the second they walk through the door. We have sparkly lights on, colourful pictures on the windows and Disney music playing in the entrance. Our rooms also provide bright, coloured painted windows of pictures and scenes they may recognize, we have displays that can be enjoyed by both the children and adults, children are able to help themselves to toys which we feel will promote independence as they do not have to rely on an adult for supervision. Our furniture is also child friendly, with no sharp edges and they are at a size the children can reach and sit on comfortably without feeling intimidated.

tt K3C154 The Importance of good working relationships in the setting. When having good working relationships in the setting it’s important as it can create a welcoming and secure atmosphere for the children. This in turn helps young children to settle in and feel relaxed in to the setting. When you are working in an early years setting for example, a nursery all the staff are welcoming and help you out with any questions you might have about the nursery or about their job. If you have a task to do and you don’t know where they keep the equipment to do this task then you could ask someone in the room that you are in.
A positive role model can encourage children to stay in school to gain the skills necessary to succeed. Parents and teachers who stay engaged in a child’s life teach that child the value of an education and that school is a safe place to express one’s self. Role models demonstrate that attending school gives children a group of friends and extracurricular activities, which help children, enjoy school. They motivate a child that dropping out of school is not an option for people who want to become someone, and they can motivate them to improve their understanding of the world by staying in school. A positive role model can promote healthy eating and a healthy lifestyle.
A child's language development can be affected by the home environment, but also by childcare facilities, the community and the social interactions that they have within these environments. Home Environment Safety and comfort are crucial to learning; therefore a safe and nurturing environment is conducive to language development. The home needs to be a place where the child can open up and grow. A balance of individual time, parent involvement and group activities with other children are also needed. Parents who get involved and play interactive games with their children see much better results.
Observing children was very interesting experience. It was important to understand how different children view concepts than adult. I observed a Pre-K class in la petite academy on July 02, 2010 and that observation was rewarding experience because I could see different behavior and reaction of children and how each person reacts differently to certain behaviors. According to Eggen and Kauchak, “students get a feeling about whether or not their classroom is a desirable place to learn.” Children were safe and secured this was shown by their way to express themselves and self-esteem. A strong sense of attachment and belonging was shown in that Pre-K class between the teacher Miss Samantha and her children.
This will give parents a sense of purpose and belonging as their input will be welcomed, respected, and valued. Having a school parental involvement policy will promote positive attitudes towards school. It will provide opportunities to enrich the learning experience of the child, bringing together the resources of home and school. As a result there is less likelihood of the child noticing conflict between home and school. This will be because the parent and teacher will be seen to be working toward the same ends, although at times from different perspectives.
Home schooling is also very beneficial for children who need a more focused atmosphere. This atmosphere also allows some children the comfortable environment needed for them to express themselves. Public school is another option that parents have available to educate their children. This type of schooling allows more interaction with other children and more opportunities for the child to work on their own or in large and small groups. With all of the different programs and teachers available, there is a broader variety of classes and a wider variety of teaching skills in public schools that could benefit your child more as opposed to being home schooled.
