Good communication skills are essential for early childhood educators. This essay outlines how good communication skills provide advancement in student skill, through proper practices of collaboration between childhood educators, students, and parents through good communication. Classroom communication can be defined as a process of information shared that consists of verbal and nonverbal transactions between teacher and students, or between and among students, in a classroom setting (Kearns, 2012, p.33). Firstly, this forms the basis of skills essential for educators to increase student educational success. Secondly, children increase social and cognitive development from positive influences that are communicated by teachers. Emphasis around Vygotsky’s theory will explain the basis of social interaction facilitating learning with the benefit of good communication (Eggen & Kauchak, 2010). Thirdly, teachers must develop high level of written and verbal communication skills. This will develop good relationships between the teacher, student and family leading to proper educational practices that will improve student’s overall outcomes will enhance their literacy skill. Finally, educators with effective communication skills prove an ability to adapt teaching methods to suit the needs of students they are supporting (Kearns, 2012), and with appropriate delivery of good communication, student learning increases. When delivering student education, acquiring effective communication skills involving the delivery of high written and verbal skills, and literacy development is essential for teachers to aid children’s needs for learning, as this assists to prove social and cognitive development for children when the teacher collaborates towards educating children.
