Community involvement is very important. The best thing a person can donate is their time. It is every individual’s responsibility to help others in their community and beyond. For the past four years, I have gained experience through serving breakfast to the homeless at St. Andrew’s Church on the second Saturday of every month, preparing and teaching for Vacation Bible School, assisting special needs students, and acting as a teacher’s assistance for grade five, and seven classes, as well as grade eight classes. Through my experiences volunteering with children of various ages, as well as at-risk adults in the homeless community, I have discovered my passion for helping others.
During my high school career, I have put a lot of effort forward in my schoolwork and have challenged myself with advanced courses. I have successfully been competing against my other classmates to try and be the best I can be. I have received honor roll every semester of my high school career. Being selected as a potential candidate for NHS proves my academics, but what makes me a great candidate is not just my average. It is difficult to narrow down many instances in which I have showed great leadership.
Over time I was able to see the positive the effects these sessions had on the children and their families. Conducting these sessions has taught me the importance of incorporating the foster parents. I was able to help the parents implement techniques and strategies that resulted positive behavior changes in the children. I have never been more ready or eager to take the next step in my journey and begin my studies in mental health counseling. I believe this program will lead me to a fulfilling career, which will be rewarding in terms of the help I will provide to others.
The programs offered at the honors college will allow me to achieve this goal of giving back to the community in a way that generates a long-lasting impact. As a part of the honors college, I would like to get involved in helping on and off campus. By organizing and being a part of service learning events, I will gain leadership and communication skills that will be used forever. The experiences I will gain from being a part of the honors college will impact me for the rest of my life. I plan on using these skills and experiences to impact others in a positive way.
Perseverance in my life Hello, school officials, teachers, classmates, ladies and gentleman at Argosy University. In the following months I have attendant Argosy University Online Program. I have had the ability to maintain a successful path towards my goal and it has given me the opportunity to apply for this scholarship. It is an honor for me to write this essay not only because of my academic standards that I have achieved at Argosy but perseverance has been a term that I have dealt with all my life. Perseverance to me is committing to strive for better despite the road, setbacks or shortcomings that are before me.

Now as a senior, I look back at how I’ve grown and the morals and responsibility I’ve gained. High School has taught me the importance of hard work, dedication, punctuality, and respect towards others; values that will lead me through college and later life. I have personally experienced the relevance of hard work and dedication with my involvement in my high school football team. I started playing for my school as a sophomore and I slowly began to earn my spot as a starter on the varsity team
I could have taken a year off from school if I wanted, but I took the challenge of gaining many new responsibilities, which help me grow as an adult each day. I have met many new people coming into this school more than I ever thought I would. My teachers are very diverse, and it is a lot of hard work adapting to different teaching habits. One person I can really say that has helped me through all these different obstacles would have to be my friend Maranda. Yes, we have known each other before attending college but this transitioning stage in life has really opened my eyes to my own reality.
God helped me get through one the hardest challenges of my life. Over the years, I learned how to balance a check book, file taxes, choose a partner, buy my first car, pay bills, and live in my first apartment. These simple life lessons were very difficult to maneuver on my own. I wish I would have paid more attention to my parents’ teachings. Which brings me to a valuable lesson I want to instill in all of you.
I do it to connect with God with my soul and mind. It cleanses them of the burdens of the week and gives me a sense of peace and calming. The reason why I am taking classes is further my education in the hopes of pursuing and creating a future career for myself not just having a job. I spend time with my family because they give me sense of happiness, love, warmth, and kindness to my heart. I love to spend time with my family.
