Why You Do the Things You Do

One of the main reason of why we do the things we do is because it falls under the basic needs if ourselves as people or a basic need in order to survive in today's modern society. I work for the need to provide for myself, for my pets and family. When I work I earn money and with that money I buy food(groceries), basic toiletries, pay bills, and any other items needed. I go to church for myself. I do it to connect with God with my soul and mind. It cleanses them of the burdens of the week and gives me a sense of peace and calming. The reason why I am taking classes is further my education in the hopes of pursuing and creating a future career for myself not just having a job. I spend time with my family because they give me sense of happiness, love, warmth, and kindness to my heart. I love to spend time with my family. It's one of my favorite things to do and it makes me very happy. Maslow's Hierarchy of Human Needs is a proposed hierarchy of needs that we need to satisfy in a certain sequence that shows we must satisfy certain basic physiological needs before we can satisfy others. Physiological needs being things such as hunger. The order in which the needs need to be satisfied are physiological needs, safety, love and belongingness, esteem, and self-actualization.(Experience Psychology, ch.9 pg 340) I would say these needs would fall in Maslow's Hierarchy. Work I would say would fall somewhere in physiological needs because you work I order to get money to feed yourself. So it is sort of that cause and affect. I would say church would land in esteem and safety. And taking classes would be a step in esteem as well. And obviously spending time with your family would fall under love and belongingness for
