As a student at the University of Phoenix, the author recognizes that he still has a duty to protect patient confidentiality. University of Phoenix also recognizes the need to protect person and professional information, not only about patients, but ourselves and our employers as well. (University Of Phoenix). This is demonstrated by not revealing any information that directly related oneself, a client or an institution. In other words, the same rules apply as with PHI in the hospital. Information is to be released on a “need to know” basis, with the up most in confidentiality maintained. Again, easy to say but also easy to violate. In both environments, the nurse has to have the patients, their employers, and there own best interests at heart. It’s a fine line, but one that the ethical nurse can easily
