Their starting line up consists of two seniors, two juniors, and one sophomore, all who were part of the championship team last year. This experienced combination of players will be a lethal hit to any team that is in their way. Russ Smith is the driving force that propels this team. He has all the skills it takes to keep the team together and has helped amass such a great run at the end of their season, with a 42-point outbreak against Houston two weeks earlier. The Louisville Cardinals are not going down this year; they will fly all the way to the top.

Gatlin was proud of himself for taking home bronze with a 9.79 in such a blazing race. "Just to be part of an epic race," Gatlin said, his voice trailing off. "I just wanted to get on that podium and just be there for my country." - Jon
In Middle School I had many opportunities that made me a better person. I am very glad because I always had an important person on my life that motivates me and this is my sister Ana, I love her so much. In middle School I was able to participate in various activities such as Poetry, Math and Dance Contests, from which I did the best I could and these activities gave me awesome experiences. At the end of middle school I received the honor of been the number one student of my class. Having the privilege of being the number one in middle school gave me the opportunity to go to a very good High School.
My schedule consisted of waking up early every day and taking a 1.5 mile run, followed by taking 500 jump shots, a similar exercise Kobe performed during his high school career. Conquering the fear of failure became an imaginary bond between Kobe and I. I knew that working hard all summer honed my physical and mental edge on the court. When tryouts came around, the odds were against me, as the team roster had been established, but I did my best Kobe impersonation and played harder than anyone else on the court. I made the team because just like Kobe, I wasn’t going to fail. This experience taught me to have fortitude, and to always strive for my dreams.
“Michael Johnson of USA takes the gold for the 400m!” Coach said “It is time for the medal ceremony. Go up there and get your gold” I began to see a few tears in his eyes, but I did not say anything about it because I knew why he was crying. I just said. “Alright coach.” While walking up to stage to get my gold medals, I hear the crowd chanting “golden boy.” I always hear that ever since I started to run with my golden running shoes Nike made for me. Now that I am up here waiting to get my gold medals and hearing the crowd chant, my emotions become overwhelming.
The knowledge I have gained from being a part of the athletic community is very vast and I would argue that is why I am a member of the discourse community. I earned my first gold medal when I was in the second grade for winning the 50 yard dash. That was a day that I will never forget. Winning that race motivated me to participate in sports more often and take keen interest in learning more about the athletic community. Since then, I learned how to train for many different sports my school offered.
I am an incoming freshman and also a recruit of Pat Hanlon’s for the 2011-2012 Oswego State Women’s Volleyball team. When making my decision for which college to attend, I was inspired by everything that the team had to offer. The team striked me as so welcoming, they had an enormous amount of chemistry while playing together, and were truly amazing ,enthusiastic individuals. After seeing one game, my decision to attend Suny Oswego was finalized. My mom and I attended a match last fall season and I felt such an amazing vibe from the girls.
My whole life I have been the star of my basketball team always leading them to greatness. I have always been the captain of my team and the role model my teammates look up to. In late game situations, they always put the ball in my hands and I always get us the win. I was on top of the world, thought I could do no wrong. Than the championship game of my 6th grade year happened.
