Multiple Character Analysis Charlie and Sam are best friends in the novel, The Perks Of Being A Wallflower by Stephen Chobosky. They have more in common then they both thought. Growing up Charlie was not known as the poplar kid. He was know because of his older brother and sister. His brother was the big football player and his sister was one of the prettiest girls at school. Charlie only had one very good friend growing up. In the middle of spring in eighth grade he killed himself with one shoot to his head. He never made another friend except for an anon that he writes to. He never met him\her. Otherwise he did not make a real friend until his freshmen year of high school and that where this novel is taken place. Charlie firsts day of high school was extremely hair-rising for him. He has not left his house all summer. At school, Charlie finds a friend and mentor in his English teacher, Bill. He also overcomes his shyness and approaches a classmate, Patrick along with his step-sister Sam, at a football game. They become two of Charlie's best friends, they were both outcast. During the course of the school year, Charlie has his first date and his first kiss, he deals with bullies, he experiments with drugs and drinking, and he makes friends, loses them, and gains them back. He creates his own soundtrack through a series of mix tapes full of iconic songs, reads a huge stack of classic books that his English teacher give him because he see that Charlie can go very far in his future. When Charlie was younger he lost his favorite person in the whole world, his aunt Helen. She died in a car accident on his seventh birthday, she was on her way to buy Charlie a birthday gift. Ever since then he feel like it was all his fault. But he finds out she molested him when he was younger. He stared to remember how Sam was touching him the same way as his aunt. After finding
