Some parents ignore to teach their children when they were young. It cause many children don’t care their behavior and they will get the wrong worldview. I like this book because that is a good advice for children and parents, it can help parents teach their children keep a good behavior when they were young. How to listening to the other people, that is a serious problem for children, especially for parents. Now, more and more children don’t like to listen to the other people.
For example, beauty school students volunteering for needy friends also for their practice. Second, students’ personality can be affected greatly after he/she volunteers. Some people would be say that it is not volunteering they just doing it by force but they can feel and see how other people need especially, needy friends. Also it is time to get to work with new people so students can make new friends. It can be help students build an upright character and altruism.

In the article, “Why Johnny Can't Fail”, Jerry Jesness admits he has played a part in the “floating standard”, but he does not agree with it. The floating standard lets students proceed to the next grade level even if they are not fully prepared. Jesness claims the floating standard is easier to give into rather than to set high standards that some students may not meet because having it in place not only keeps students happy, but also keeps the parents content. When Jesness first began teaching he failed students, but learned that giving students the grades they deserved was not the norm. He soon “fell into line” after the principal of the school called a meeting with him and the parents of the students he was failing.
There are a number of extracurricular clubs in schools that participate in programs that aid communities such as FBLA, National Honors Society, and also some sports teams because it broadens a student’s views, politically and culturally, but these clubs aren’t utilized by all students. Community Service, which many individuals won’t be exposed to at home, is beneficial to the social development of an individual and teaching them responsibility. It allows students to start having a relationship with the members of their communities and create bonds that could lead to professional relationships later on in life. Many people argue that development is vital in the younger years in the child’s life, and the ability to solve problems and apply ideas help in the long-term. Hyman argues that the lower classes create a self imposed barrier to learning their values. This is because he believes that they have a low value on education, with a ‘play safe’ culture and also a low level of self belief. This would all impact on the child performance at school as they would not have the attitude needed to progress. If at any point they failed, they would see this as a big mistake and give up and have a lack of motivation.
However, if students have the right reason to drop out of school due to their personality and personal interest, family issues, or they have own business, they should be able to decide their future since talent is not based solely on academics. Personality and personal interest are a crucial factor for student to drop out. Because of the family environment or personal disability, a student may not understand the way the teacher teaches. The student may grow with negative attitude to teacher and course, which prevents the student to absorb knowledge. Students prefer to learn by themselves.
These courses are useless unless you're going to major in one of those subjects, but most of us aren't. So then why are they offered to us? I don't know, but it is a waste of time. Instead of memorizing information only to have it regurgitated back to the teacher, we should be spending time learning practical life lessons. Courses like home economics, entrepreneurship ,and accounting should be mandatory.

Having said that, it is a very divisive issue if volunteering should be mandatory or not at universities and colleges. In my point of view, volunteering should not be mandatory for students due to some reasons. Firstly, mandatory volunteering takes the student's time and makes their life more complicated.
