M3 01 Reflective Review on Acheiving Objectives by P Barker

This is a reflective review by Peter Barker on achieving objectives. The key learning points for the module were: 1) Setting objectives 2) Using tools such as S.M.A.R.T, Activity Matrix and G.R.O.W to achieve these objectives. [pic][pic] S.M.A.R.T : specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, timely. Throughout my working day I can easily put this into practise by 1) S: Give techs/new starts specific techniques and guidelines to achieve successful installs. 2) M: Make them aware that using the correct meter reading etc, they will complete the job. 3) A: Give them the correct tolls to complete the objectives. 4) R: Highlight the company goals and make them aware that they have the potential to be within the high scores each month. 5) T: To advice that they will be monitored each month and if experiencing problems they can get extra help within the month. Whilst making others understand the SMART objectives it helps with my own personal Performance management and helps me to put into practise my coaching management G.R.O.W technique. Activity Matrix: [pic] The Activity Matrix is one of the things that I have found beneficial from the course and use on a daily/weekly routine. Planning is the key. I start by deciding what is Urgent and what is Important for the day/week/month then prioritise my list, I then start to put this into action and it has helps me understand which objectives are urgent and important, such as compiling daily report written on each audit completed. I understand the Importance of keeping the lists to a manageable length so that I don’t get overwhelmed. I try not to have more than 12 items each day; and if my list is large, I cut it down into groups of three, prioritised according to my quadrants.
