Collins was drafted and hired for the same reason, to restore the winning tradition of the franchise. Collins was a very successful player for the 76ers, but due to injuries was forced to retire the summer before the title won in 1983. Collins is considered one of the best coaches, however there are certain aspects of his coaching style I disagree with. For example, Jrue Holiday should not have been named the point guard because the position doesn’t fit his capabilities. He wants to be known for making the big plays, instead of distributing the basketball to his teammates.
By working as a team you can gain valuable knowledge from those who are more experienced than you, but it also allows you to suggest newer and fresher ways to approach learning. Each member or person has their own skill and expertise, communicating with them helps you to learn, build up your own knowledge and know your own responsibilities.By working as a team you will also learn to trust and respect your colleagues, build relationships and build your own confidence. Problems can be shared and solutions can be discussed or suggested. You can learn new skills, take better responsibility of your own role and achieve your end goal more effectively. Teamwork sets a good example to others especially children and shows them they are surrounded by people who they can trust and respect. When adults are working effectively together and are working as part of a team, the children will see them as role models and will follow, copy and mimic what they see, To a parent this shows that the school are setting a good
A laisse-faire leader will allow his team to make their own decisions and determine their own approach to completing the task at hand. This also means that the team gets very little help or guidance from the leader. Some people prefer this style of leadership because they like to manage their own work, at their own pace, as well as being able to make their own decisions. But on the other hand, others may prefer to have guidance throughout their project to make sure they’re on the right tacks. Laissez-faire leadership can be effective in situations where group members are highly skilled, motivated, and capable of working on their own.
The Stray Bullet Jim felt very happy that morning; there was no particular reason for that happiness apart from the fact that he was just drafted in by the head coach for the college basketball team. He had all the attributes to make it big in basketball; he stood 6ft 10in tall, was built like a truck and was surprisingly athletic for someone with such a huge frame. He had worked really hard to get into the team, the road was not easy, the fact that he was new to the college didn’t make things any easier, but still as soon as one saw a glimpse of him on the court they knew in their hearts that this boy was destined to become the next big thing in college basketball, and may be go on and rub shoulders with the big boys in the NBA(National
Thus, better decisions will be made and implemented. The following pairings – ST, SF, NT, and NF – focus on each cognitive preference and how each person gathers information and makes decisions. Sensing/Thinking (ST) people enjoy specific details, are practical and methodical, and like using procedural and organizational skills for finding concrete solutions to immediate problems. Sensing/Feeling (SF) individuals like using facts to provide meaningful and speedy assistance to others and to produce happy and pleasant situations. The Intuition/Feeling (NF) employees are concerned with ideas, opportunities, and concepts and enjoy using their intuition to appreciate and develop
Basketballs cultural significance on the society from which William and Arthur both come from is enormous not only to William and Arthur because they are actively involved in the sport but also to there family and friends. The sport and the hope in succeeding in it are the boys families main mission, it is their faith in the game that unites their families and gives each person hope. The chance of getting to the NBA is not only a personal quest for each boy but also a chance to get themselves and their families out of the problems of teen pregnancy, crime, crumbling public schools, parental drug use and abandonment. The film shows how Basketball is one of the only hopes of ever getting away from the ghetto and the projects of Chicago. There is evidence all around them of how life can go so wrong very easily, Arthur’s friend goes to prison for drug dealing and his own father is a crack addict for a period of the film.
Carl A. Rickerson Professor Evelyn Rogers English 111 22 September 2011 L.A. Lakers vs. L.A. Clippers I am a huge sports fanatic so when I saw for this essay that we could write about sports, my brain began running with ideas. I finally settled on my sport of choice the National Basketball Association, also know as the NBA. I plan to show the comparison and contrast of two of the NBA’s most storied franchises. One is storied due to its enormous success; the other because of its enormous failures. The L.A. Lakers and the L.A. Clippers.
Decision making with your employees will let them gain respect for the leader and become more determined. This style will bring strength between you and your employees. Laissez-Faire-This style is used when the leader is lazy or distracted, it’s more of a you do what you want style. This style can be used when the team is highly capable and motivated, it’s when the team doesn’t need close monitoring or supervision. This style can cause failure when the leader expects the group to make the decision between themselves when they are un sure about what they need to achieve and how they need to accomplish the task.
How did Coach Carter inspire his team to become both better players and people? Coach Carter was an inspiration coach to the Richmond high basketball team, he took a bunch of disrespectful, no good kids that were going no one in life and turned them into respectful young men that were now going somewhere in life. Couch Carter went to Richmond high school when he was a teenage and held record’s for basketball. He wanted to teach the boys that they could go somewhere in life if they study and go to classes and get good grades. Before couch carter took over the Richmond high basketball team they were shit.
Watching Kobe play basketball during the 2010 NBA playoffs made me want to try out for my high school basketball team. I decided that I was going to dedicate that summer to emulate Kobe. Just like Kobe, I was fueled to be the best. I had that same internal fire burning within me and the same drive that was going to propel me onto a varsity basketball roster. It is common knowledge that the fear of failure is what drives Kobe to his infinite pursuit of excellence.
