By talking about what we need, wish or want is important in order for people to understand what to do if you’re feeling worried or concerned about a situation. When in a situation we are unsure of or not knowing what to do we communicate in order to receive support from others, or we may be on the other hand be supporting others with a difficult situation, by reassuring people. Service users and their relatives need to be able to trust you in order for them to have confidence in you and to make sure you can care for them.
Effective communication is essential in a workplace and also affects all our aspects of our work. When we usually think of communication we usually just assume it is talking to each other, but this is not the case. Even when you are not talking you are communicating with someone because the way you behave is also a type of communication. Effective communication drives work places and affects us all because without it the company or business would not work as well. Effective communication brings respect between boss and employees, confirmation of where everyone stands and a sense of belonging and trust.
Just talking to your team on a daily basically makes all the difference, the team feel wanted and needed. There need that feel of importance and that you as a person will listen and talk. It will make them feel better about coming to work. There may have difficulty in communicating but know that you will take the time to do your best to understand and solve the problem not matter how small. Whether it’s a command or just saying ‘how’s things with you’ to a team member makes all the importance of further communication.
Use and Develop Systems that Promote Communication. 1.1 Communication affects my work setting in many different ways, between the service user, their family, friends, carers, seniors and all the medical professionals. This may be done in many different ways ie in person, email, telephone calls, text messages and written correspondence. All individuals have the right to communicate in whichever way they feel most comfortable and this should always be supported accordingly. Effective written and verbal communication and being able to use a variety of interpersonal techniques promotes strong working relationships and will promote good quality care.
