INSIDE THE MINDSETS In the essay “Inside the Mindsets” by Carol Dweck, she explains two types of mindsets. The growth mindset and fixed mindset and how these mindsets can affect our lives in a positive or negative way. Whether in our childhood or adulthood in areas such as education, sports, and work challenges. Certainly, people with a growth mindset are not afraid of new challenges even if these challenges are difficult. They enjoy learning and stretching their knowledge. Also people with growth mindset never give up.They learn from their mistakes until accomplish their goals. On the other hand, people with fixed mindset do not like to expose their deficiencies. And always want to prove they are smart. Failure is unacceptable to them, and it means they are not smart. Also they avoid challenges, and give up easily. Carol Dweck wrote “Mindsets are just beliefs. They are powerful beliefs, but they‘re just in your mind, and you can change your mind.” In this passage, Dweck is suggesting that doesn’t matter if you have a fixed mindset or growth mindset both can be changed to be better every day. Mia Hamm was the greatest female soccer player of her time. Mia Hamm who had a growth mindset tells us how her mindset lead her to success. First she played with her older brother. Then at ten, she joined the eleven-year-old boys’ team. After that she joined the number one college team in the United States. In general she faced players better than her. Also people with growth mindset thrive when they are stretching themselves. They enjoy learning and always have a positive mindset. In fact people with growth mindset usually don’t give up. This example, show a growth mindset because Mia Hamm always strove to be better every day. She was never afraid to take on players with more experience and abilities than hers. She thought that the more difficult the challenge was
