1. Abstract In recent years, Hyundai MOBIS has shown great growth in the automotive components industry. Now that MOBIS became the top 8 automotive parts manufacturer in the world market, we need to take a serious look into the performances that MOBIS has achieved especially for the last few years, and how it has made that story. There are several key factors that were considered to have enormous influences on MOBIS’s success such as the module system, JIS approach (which is advanced from JIT) and so on. This paper, hereby, will cover the current situations of operation managements in MOBIS, point out the current/potential problems within it, suggest the feasible solutions to this company, and propose the agendas for MOBIS to be successful in its business areas. 2. Industry and Company Information 2-1. Introduction of MOBIS A. Corporate Identity of MOBIS The term “MOBIS” is a combination word of “Mobile”, which indicates “Car” in English speaking countries, and “System” with the meaning of unity of the complicated machineries to imply that it’s an expert company which produces automotive components and systems to compose a car. In addition, it designed its logo in English, which is a common language in the world, in order to deliver the constant and identical image of corporation to customers in the world, with different cultures and traditions. It colored “O” with red color to express progressive and dynamic imagination. B. History of MOBIS MOBIS was established as a company named Hyundai Precision Industry Co. Ltd on July 1978 and it ran its business to produce steals, frame-works and valves. Since 1980, it started to manufacture the special-purposed cars and became the first ranked container manufacturer in the world only within 3 years after entering into that business.
