Houston Community College System is a community college system that operates 16 community colleges in Houston, Missouri City, Katy and Stafford in Texas. There are also 5 high schools which are incorporated by HISD that reside on HCC’s campuses. HCC procures over $50 million in goods and services annually which provides many opportunities for the vendors within our community. HCC in its attempt to be a model for the culturally diverse community it serves, is committed to increasing the level of participation of small businesses. HCC maintains a competitive bidding process in accordance with the Texas Education Code, and the policies and procedures mandated by the Board of Trustees. HCC has established a Small Business Development Program to stimulate the growth of local small businesses. We encourage small business participation in all phases of procurement activities by offering a full and fair opportunity to compete for all HCC contracts. HCCS has two major technology departments: the Information Technology Department (IT) and the Instructional Computing Resources Center (ICRC). The IT Department has four functional areas that support HCCS. The divisions within the IT Department are Application Development, Administrative Support and Project Office, Telecommunications and System Support and End User Computing. The IT Department reports to the vice chancellor for Institutional Development and the ICRC Department reports to vice chancellor for Educational Development. Technicians at each college are responsible for the instructional hardware support and report to administrators at the colleges. Each college also has a Curriculum Innovation Center to provide instructional technology training for its faculty
