Agency Review The agency I decided to reviewe is Allied Rehab Centers, Inc; a not-for-profit tax exempt human service agency located at 3 Pearson Way, Enfield, CT 06082. I had the pleasure to talk to Mrs. Jones; Independent living support department’s supervisor, a 17 years veteran of this human service agency. Mrs. Jones provided me with a lot of information about what Allied Rehab Centers, Inc. represents and what this agency is all about. Allied has been serving individuals with developmental disabilities, mental retardation, physical handicaps and acquired brain injuries since the early 1960s. is a subsidiary of Allied Community Services Six Craftsman Road East Windsor, CT 06088 which is the “parent corporation” of the corporate structure which it referred as Allied Group. Allied Group corporate structure became effective July 1st, 1999 and fosters the development of programs and services on behalf of persons with mental retardation, handicaps and other disabilities. Allied Rehabilitation Centers appears to be meeting and exceeding their goal of assist and promotes the general welfare of persons with mental retardation, handicaps and other disabilities. This agency provides programs and services for over 300 consumers with developmental disabilities from 16 towns in north central Connecticut. Allied Rehab Center’s various programs are Day and Residential Services, Employment Training & Transitional Services, Waiver Services, Sports Training & Recreation, Transportation Services and Self-Advocacy. The majority of the consumers served by Allied Rehab Centers, Inc. are referred to the agency by various public and private agencies such as the State’s Department of Developmental Services, Bureau of Rehabilitation Services, the U.S. Department of Labor Office of Workers Compensation Program, Veterans Administration as well as Public Schools and the private…show more content…
This team of Directors and Supervisor will assist the President/CEO to fulfill and secure that Allied Rehab Centers, Inc. will be progressive in the on-going development/enhancement of programs and services provided. With an operating budget of approximately $8 millions, Allied Rehab Center, Inc is funded by contracts and grants awarded by the state Department of Mental Retardation, various state and federal agencies and local businesses. As stated by Mrs. Jones, some to the biggest challenges for both the present and the future of this agency are the rapid growing number of referrals and services needed, the increase in budget cuts, be able to continue to afford to maintain the appropriate amount of employees for consumer/staff ratio and the difficulty of finding qualified staff to serve their target population. Overall, I believe that Allied Rehab Centers, Inc. even thru this hard times in our economy, its appears to constantly strive to meet and exceed their goal of creating opportunities for individuals with disabilities and other challenges in order for these individuals to achieve true
