3.2 There are many proven ways to raise awareness of diversity, equality and exclusion. This could be one to one, colleague to colleague or colleague to patient. It could also be done through staff training. For example in February 2013 one of our experienced Staff Nurses held a ward meeting and did a presentation on diversity and equality. This was very informative and gave staff members a refresh on the subject which we all found to be a massive benefit to our role and everyday we work with other members of our team, colleagues from other departments in the hospital and also patients. All these people to be from different walks of life with different religions, beliefs and thoughts. The more training we get and the more we talk about diversity, equality and exclusion, the better the service we can offer to the general public. This means we are always aware and is it always at the forefront of our minds. Another way to promote diversity, equality and exclusion would be through leaflet and poster campaigns throughout the workplace. These can be placed in key places throughout the hospital and are designed to re-educate and raise awareness. This is a very good and clear tool to use as posters and leaflets put in key places can be eye catching and easy to read and remember the key facts. 3.3 Unit 304 Outcome 2 2.1 The potential conflicts or dilemmas that may arise between the duty of care and individuals rights could be a difference of opinion between staff members over a child. It is important for us as NHS staff to always have our ears and eyes open and to be vigilant at all times for any abuse we may suspect or witness. An example of this is a staff member believing they have seen signs of abuse (of this we are given annual training of what to pick up on) and another staff member thinking they don’t.
