Analytical Essay Have you ever wanted to change something about yourself that no one else thought needed to be changed? What if everyone else but you thought you needed to change a flaw you had never seen before. That is the tragic situation in Marge Piercy’s “Barbie Doll.” The main character went from having a positive outlook on her beauty and being healthy and intelligent to having a negative self image and becoming self-conscious of everything that once was. If she had been told she was beautiful, maybe just once, she would not have taken such drastic measures to obtain beauty. In Piercy’s poem, the deadly effects of the ‘Beauty Myth’ are revealed in a symbolic representation of death.
Personality is characterized and shaped by the relationship that he or she had with their parents as a child and to present day. It is evident that Allison’s behavior is influenced by her relationship with her parents. Since she is ignored largely by her parents, Allison’s needs were not met by nurturing parents and this results in Allison experiencing extreme feelings of uselessness, self doubt, and hesitancy. Therefore, Allison suffers from basic anxiety, as she has feelings of helplessness and insecurity. As a child (and even now when Allison is a teenager,) Allison feels alone and isolated in a hostile environment because her parents and (and even her peers,) are not caring towards her, hence the reason why she is so reserved and sensitive.
On the other hand, Dottie’s sister Kit represented the “fear of failure” athlete. Rae Public Image of a Nurse This is a nurse costume sold by Lure Love, it is marketed for adult dress up or costume parties. They also market it “to play out their fantasies” (Lure Love). She has changed a lot since the beginning of the play. Keeping a smile on my face throughout this scene is quite important. It shows to the audience that Katherine, now tamed is really happy. She can truly enjoy life and it’s brilliance to the fullest now that she has someone who really has shown her love and care and she has learned to show those feelings back. When Petruchio says the line “What duty they do owe their lords and husbands” I would want the other female characters to gasp in shock at what Petruchio said but as Katherine I would not gasp and rather ponder for a moment putting my hand up to my face to clearly show that the character is honestly thinking about this.

Discuss in detail how you would play Nora in the Scene eight of ‘A Doll’s House’. Referring to voice, movement, gesture and facial expression, as well as to how Nora responds to others on stage. During scene eight of Ibsen’s ‘A Doll’s House’ (1879) I would play Nora as a matured, knowledgeable and sensible woman. In this scene she has decided to leave her life and start anew, therefore I would perform responsibly, showing her development throughout the play. The scene starts with Helmer reacting violently to the idea of Nora deserting her ‘position’ as a wife and a mother.
