Reflection Paper BSHS/345 Week 3 Reflective Paper Kathleen Parks Dr. Princess Clarke August 8, 2014 All the people in our country and across the world face many kinds of difficulties starting from trauma, challenges for migrant and seasonal workers, women aging to overcoming poverty. The incomes and expenditure for no one persons are the same. The poverty passed down from generation to generation is stated as generational poverty. It is a forever-going cycle passed down from parents to children, to the children to the grandchildren and so on. Generational poverty usually passes on the lack of motivation, money and education from one generation to the other. Children affect by poverty usually don’t receive quality education as well as healthcare. There are many families solely but incorrectly depended on welfare for their source of income. We can think of several ways to break this cycle. One way is to get something to do for income. This method provides money, clothes, shelter and food for the workers’ families. Children who see their parents working for a living gain a sense of confidence, and search for tools to educate themselves. Studies show that people who graduate with a High School diploma are more likely to be employed than those who have dropped out. Another alternative is to further your education. Furthering your education puts you in a higher percentile of people in the job market. A child interested in education should be fostered and encouraged to seek and obtain goals. The school system is very important in this process, the higher quality teachers that are in schools supporting their students can play a very important role in stopping the poverty…show more content…
They struggle for stature, growth, and fair wages within their jobs. There are many cultures where men are the main sources of income while the women only attended to household chores and children. Not that long ago americans raised their families in the same manner. With the changing of generations, came the changes in who american’s reared their families. If we take a step back in time (roughly 60 years ago) families worked hard, and tended to the home as though it were a job as well. Bringing it back to present day, the average american family has more electronic device running their household than they do family members. We rely far to heavily drive through diners to provide dinner, and the dinning room table has all but become extinct. Our priority have shifted, and our young families and children of today’s society haven’t had the role models and ground rules of life passed down to them like our Mother’s and Father’s. Women care about their appearances and have taken “staying young” to the extreme. When they start getting older, they apply make-up, plastic surgery, hair dye and even wear age inappropriate clothing hoping for the feeling of youth. In my opinion all of these subjects are small factors into our social and welfare issues. If you meet the criteria set before you by your governing state, you are handed and electronic benefits transaction card, and without accountability you are given a set
