First Impression of My University

As an International transfer student, this transfer means not only a totally new experience in University of Illinois and in college of LAS, but also a fresh start in another country. For many students, the Quad Day, sororities or football games may be the most interesting and important event so far, but for me literally "surviving" U of I is a 2-credit course. I am not indicating that how hard the life is but illustrating that I focus the most on daily life and academics. What impressed me most up to now is the student-centered education, which is totally different from the place where I am from. the university is like a grand supermarket providing all kinds of tools, food with different nutrition and resources. The librarians, advisers, officers, professors and T As are willing to help. The libraries, computer labs and the Union are so convenient that I can get a seat and study or discuss with others at any time. Here, the university is not a leader or supervisor anymore but a resourceful helper and I am the leader of myself. This student-centered education enables me to think independently about what I want to learn and who I want to be. I feel more responsible for my own growth and success. I really enjoyed the first week here. I feel that as long as I have a dream, there's a way to realize it here and everyone is standing along the side to give suggestions.
