PERSONAL STATEMENT
I have always been passionate about helping and caring for the sick and nurturing them back to good health. As a child, I remember being the only one in my family who could make my immediate younger sister take her medication and eat her food simply by the way I talk to her and offer to mash some of her food.
Upon relocating to the United Kingdom in 2000, I cared for my aunty, who was undergoing chemotherapy, by ensuring that she meets her appointment, preparing meals for her in accordance with dietary advice from doctors and collecting her prescriptions. This experience increased my passion to pursue a career in Nursing so that I can help others and nurture them back to better health.
During the years I was caring for my aunty, I was able to effectively manage and organise my time, a skill that will be beneficial in my Nursing career, by studying English, Mathematics and Health and Social care. I am currently completing a L3 Access course in Nursing where my knowledge has been enhanced in a wide range of subjects such as psychology, health science, Nursing studies and Sociology of health. I enjoy these subjects because it gives me a better understanding of the human body and also moving closer to achieving my childhood dream of professionally caring for the sick.
Nursing as a career requires trust, excellent interpersonal relationship and commitment to those you care for and these are traits that come natural to me as I have demonstrated in my current work place in Royal free hospital, where I work as an assistant carrying out various task such as House-keeping, Ward hostess and domestic role which involves interaction with patients, nurses and sometimes doctors. I feel like a medical staff, as I also help to improve patients’ health by keeping their rooms free from infection and ensuring that meals are delivered to them at the prescribed
