Introduction In this assignment I am going to cover the role of the teacher, the responsibilities that they have in the education and training environment. I will also discuss how to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment for your learners. To end the essay I will discuss the relationship teachers have with other professionals who work in the education and training arena. Role of a Teacher I have several roles expected of me as a teacher from the students’ points of view and that of their parents or guardians’ perspectives, but as a professional, I must first consider and structure my roles in the light of the Teaching and Training Cycle. That is to say, that the core of my roles as a teacher must reflect the Teaching and Training cycle as illustrated by Gravells (2008). So, it is a means of monitoring the different stages of my teaching and how learning is taking place.
But a good teacher will make every effort to understand the needs of both the organization and the learners to ensure the assigned responsibility is carried out successfully. A committed teacher is guided by the aims and objectives of a lesson and prepares with all necessary materials making sure the language used suits the quality of teaching and the information to be imparted. To successfully proceed with the teaching / facilitating the teacher has to provide sufficient, necessary knowledge to the learners. Inclusive learning should promote positive behaviour and conduct. A teacher needs to recognise that learner comes with different learning styles and needs. Maslow stated unless certain need are met the learner cannot progress. Malsow ‘s hierarchy of needs theory is: Learners needs have to to be met in order for leaners to be involved and focused on their learning. For individual learning styles to be met, within a good learning sessions a teacher will ensure he/she takes a multi-sensory approach to teaching, this way each learner can work to the best of their ability.

By teaching children the rules of society they learn the behaviour which is expected in order to succeed in the world of work. Rules such as obedience and diplomacy, which are essential. Another form of education is vocational education in which young adults may learn a craft and develop skills in a particular trade. This is extremely useful as it gives a clear idea of what one may expect in the world of work. In this form of education one learns how to work and develops a knowledge of the requirements and skills needed to succeed.
Assertive discipline rests upon the idea of teacher rights, and student rights. According to the model the teacher has three essential rights in the classroom. The first is the right to establish ideal learning environments for their students. The second is the right to ask for and expect appropriate behavior from their students. The last essential right a teacher has in the classroom is to receive help and cooperation from parents and administrators when it is needed.
Consequently, there are many qualities that one should possess to be a good teacher. These qualities are knowledge of subject matter, enthusiasm, and organizational skills. Teachers play an important role in the education of our society. Important skills and aspects to have are knowledge of the learning materials, respect for the children, good communication, and an understanding of the needs of the children. School is the place where we all learn and learnt many things in our life and it is the teacher who teaches us.
The key elements of Ethics and Professionalism Teachers as educators are responsible for the care and education of our children. As part of their profession it is essential that teachers develop a high level of professionalism. Furthermore, it is also necessary that teachers are clear on their own moral values ensuring that they are in coherence with the code of conduct that applies to the school that they are employed (Whitton, Barker, Nosworthy, Sinclair, Nanlohy, 2010). Groundwater-Smith, Ewing, Le Cornu (2007) put forward that as experts teachers need to bring up to date and expand their knowledge continually through further studies and education. Furthermore, Groundwater-Smith, Ewing, Le Cornu (2007) suggest that teachers need to take part in critical thinking to make certain attentiveness compatible between beliefs' and moral practices.
