Important of Reflections Reflecting on my own practice is important because it allows me to assess what i am doing well, identify areas where you might like or may need more training or guidance in to ensure am performing to the best and meeting all standards and expectations within the care setting. It also helps me to think about what I am doing in the setting and always be aware of how I am working with others. Reflecting on my work practice can enhance and improve my confidence and self-esteem because I can look at what I am doing well, the things I have learnt and achieved and feel good about myself especially if I have been able to do something with ease which I use to find it difficult to do in the past, if I have been able to do something that I have never tried it before. This then gives me confidence to continue to work well and aim to try new things or use what new skills or knowledge I have gained in my care practices. Reflecting on my activities can help me learn from other people’s strategies.
In order to protect the speaker and the counsellor throughout the helping process, ensuring justice, fairness and non-discriminatory practice to both parties, a code of ethical framework is followed. Unit 79: Promote Positive Behaviour Unit summary The purpose of this unit is to provide the learner with the knowledge, understanding and skills required to promote positive behaviour and respond appropriately to incidences of challenging behaviour. 1.1 Explain how legislation, frameworks, codes of practice and policies relating to positive behaviour support are applied to own working practice within every care setting there are policies and procedures, in our job roles we are regulated by these policies and procedures and government legislation. Within my setting the staffs are trained in mandatory courses that cover all relevant legislation such as safeguarding ensuring that the staffs understands the legal policies in place to provide best care for the residents who they support. within my setting staff also have to attend challenging behaviour courses which focuses on behaviour that is challenging and help to put proactive strategies in place to de-escalate a situation and how reactive strategies may need to be used in the correct way to reduce and risk of harm to the individual This is an effective training course as it ensures staff to be consistent in their approach to challenging behaviour. Within my role along with other staff I am also responsible for recording and logging any incidents of challenging behaviour this will include any reactive strategies used and what first aid may have been required.
I can promote good practice by leading by example and by ensuring staffs are fully trained in risk assessment and promoting the individuals rights and person centred care planning. By ensuring staff are well trained and fully aware of risk management it ensures individuals are being actively supported and empowered to reach their full potential. I use my own supervisions with my manager to be able to reflect on my own performance and can look at ways in which this can be improved upon through training and development. It is also useful to periodically look at the HSE website to update my general knowledge on specific areas and through my 1 2 1 appraisal I use more in depth reflection processes to give examples of my own practices that demonstrate positive outcomes in the area of Health and Safety. 4.4 Analyse how helping others to understand the balance between risk and rights improves practice.
As a member of management it is even more vital that i am aware and up to date with all the legislation and guidelines as part of my role is to guide, support and influence other staff to do well in their own role. My own professional development does not only impact on myself but other staff, the setting and people who use the service. Continuing professional development is a life long process of learning which enables staff to fulfill their present or future roles more effectively as maintaining a high standard of professional competence. Every early childhood professional has a personal responsibility to develop and maintain their knowledge and

Promote positive behavior By Natalie Glasspool Birchwood House Karen Taylor 1.1 In order to promote positive behaviour in a care setting or organisation you should follow legislation made by government such as the Human Rights Act 1998, codes of practice and relevant policies set out by your work place. It is important to read and understand these legislations and policies and then apply them to working practice. We receive mandatory training that reinforces the trusts policies and keeps us informed of any changes to be aware of. Best practice tells us that if we keep good notes and share information with colleagues correctly then we will be able to help and support patients correctly and encourage positive behaviour. 1.2 Restrictive interventions are ways and methods that prevent an individual from carrying out a certain task.
A policy is written as a guide to ensure plans and practices are maintained and everyone is working to a common goal. A procedure is a set of methods for conducting tasks and activities within a business and best practice to achieve goals. As a RCW by following these policies and procedures I can show the young people that I care for them and sets a good example of following guidelines and rules. The policies at Bryn Melyn are designed to ensure safety for service users and employees and promote and maintain the highest possible standards of
