McCandless thought that society was corrupted and evil institution. He wanted to go as far away from it as possible. He did not want to be linked to the type of society that we have point blank. His attitude towards life i was very hard to get yet simple depending on how you looked at it or explained it. He abhored society but couldn’t help, but be a part of it.

When the government or the president addressed this issue they were practicing the art of rhetorical discourse by addressing and reacting to the given situation. Without the problem of health care reform, it is just pointless conversation occurring or what we call “small talk,” at the very least. Bitzer explains that there are three parts that make up a rhetorical situation in order for discourse to occur; exigence, audience, and constraints. The exigence is an imperfection marked by urgency; it is a defect or an obstacle. If I use the speech former President Bush gave after the 9/11 attacks as an example, he delivered those speeches due to the fact that there was a situation that required attention, or exigence.
I thought to myself, “how could a man whose treatises have defined the way we think to this day call others out for dictating the thoughts of others when all of his teaching have been equally as persuasive?” But as I dug deeper into the reading I realized that the reason he despised persuading the middle and lower class citizens was because he believed that they were easily persuadable, and not capable of true intellectual thought. Then he goes on and saying, “There isn’t a chance of war” this dramamtic irony leads the audience into looking forward to seeing Mr Birling being prove wrong. In addition, this shows Mr Birling’s thoughts on responsibilities are wrong. Saying this, the sudeience should not agree with him and his thoughts on responsibilies due to the examples of dramatic irony. After he had finished his speech on keeping labour cost down and profit high, Inspector Goole enters and throws a shocking news at the Birlings.
Curley has obviously decided it is not worth fighting him but before he leaves he instructs Lennie as he still wants to intimidate him and show him that he has an authoritive figure. In this extract Curley has clearly unnerved Lennie as Lennie constantly seems to be in some discomfort for example “Lennie squirmed under the look and shifted his feet nervously”. John Steinbeck does well to produce powerful imagery by simply using the word “squirmed”. This shows that Lennie is embarrassed and does not know what to do and this causes tension as Curley senses his advantage while George is worried about a possible confrontation. Another example is “Lennie twisted with embarrassment”.

People like to criticize work that tells of historical events and does not provide authentic details, so Mark Twain would have been doing this novel an injustice by not including the N word in his book.
James Gibbons Huneker was the first to express his negative attitude towards Coney Island. He regarded it as “a disgrace to our civilization” and that “when you are at Coney you cast aside your hampering reason and become a plain lunatic” (96). What makes his review most interesting is that he thoroughly enjoyed his visit to Coney Island but was apparently astonished by the inappropriate behavior taking place. However, the critics that had a negative connotation towards Coney Island were not understanding that this was the point of it. People did not encounter the types of foolishness
He felt that it was right for him to take that young man’s life. He felt that that young man’s life was inferior to his and that he did not deserve to live because he did not respect him. I think that most people do not understand how much race plays a role in our everyday lives. People want to think that they aren’t racist but you probably say racist things and do not even notice it or you may think that what you are saying is acceptable. Thomas Jefferson has inspired Americans and the homage paid to him by modern political candidates across the ideological spectrum alone is a testament to the enduring power of his ideas and his continuing hold on their imaginations.
