Evaluation of Lee Bollinger Introduction of Ahmadinejad

Lee Bollinger most certainly did not deliver a proper introduction. An introduction is designed for one speaker to introduce another. “When you introduce one speaker to another, you want them to get interested in each other and to like each other: You want speaker and audience to be interested and feel warmth and friendliness. Also a speaker should give background information to enhance the speaker’s credibility with the audience (Hamilton Gregory, Public Speaking for College and Career).” Also and introduction should never insult or offend the next speaker. In lee Bollinger speech he accused Ahmadinejad of being petty and cruel and criticized his dictatorship as a president. In Ahmadinejad’s speech he mentioned that he was invited by Lee Bollinger to address students in an academic atmosphere, which made it even more preposterous for lee Bollinger introduction being watched by his peers. Lee Bollinger allowed his emotions and personal feelings to overpower his speech. In a speech/introduction it should not be merely all opinionated. He should be somewhat of an educated man to have accomplished being a lawyer, the 19th president of Columbia University, an IV lead University. It’s ridiculous for him to let his ethics and knowledge of presenting an introduction the correct way over feelings. Lee Bollinger presented all of the negative things about Ahmadinejad and quoted saying that would upset people and make them dislike him. His aim was to turn people against Ahmadinejad and persuade them to do the same as him, which is criticize pass judgment. Bollinger literally misunderstood his position as an introducer and made himself look bad. His comments were not the time or the place to display the issues he has with Ahmadinejad or have ridiculed him.
