During the lesson, students can utilize graphic organizers to identify, organize and assimilate key concepts and related details. A graphic organizer encourages students to actively seek out important details and helps filter out the non-crucial information. Students are forced to focus in on the areas of information that are important and in the process of filling out the organizer students are then able to make important connections between details. It also provides an outline that organizes the lesson information into a logical pattern making even more sense of the content increasing the student’s comprehension. Another benefit of utilizing a graphic organizer during a lesson is that it gives the

The problem in the school structure that Graff recognizes is lack of persuasion to get students to argue. This holds true in my personal experiences in academics. Despite the fact the educating administration is trying to avoid violent disputes because of arguments, they fail to see that properly structured arguments are the best way to avoid violence. Without the school system instilling the ideas and values of argument, students will lack an outlet for an argument consisting of words and are more likely to resort to violence for resolution. In a section of Gerald’s essay he advocates that educated conversation be shared with uneducated audiences as a basis for understanding any scholarly topic as well as a basis for a strong argument.

In all these countries, where people are oppressing or trying to oppress people, education isn’t a priority. Teresa Belton, a researcher at the School of Education and Lifelong Learning at the University of East Anglia, began to research this decline in imagination after reading stories written by children in the 1990’s and finding them to be bland, unoriginal and plainly unimaginative. She argues that “Being bored lets you stand back from life and observe it. And because our minds don’t like to be unoccupied, it gives you the impetus to create your own mental activity”. Taking a break from the day-to-day dictations of what to act on and how to act by allowing our brains the freedom of adventure into territories unknown, we can unconsciously process information in ways we
Students do not realize that plagiarizing someone else’s work is actually stealing. The educational system does not teach this to students. The educational system should teach that you have to cite an author even if you just take their idea and do not use their exact words. The online companies that generate essays for students should be outlawed. This is making it where students that have a lot of money can easily get by with actually learning how to write correctly.
Is the knowledge credible and reliable to the student who is utilizing it? It would be most effective for students if a post-secondary information literacy component was one of many in a long program of instruction starting in primary school. The need for learning approaches that emphasize synthesis, and the central role of information in developing discipline-specific intellectual frameworks make the teaching of information literacy (Russell,
