Eating in the Classroom

Don’t you ever feel the need to eat during the day or maybe even in the afternoon? Many students in fact do, but there are reasons as to why we are not allowed food in our classrooms. Whether it is the mess produced after eating a snack, or even the coming of roaches and rats during the nighttime to clean it up. It might be that there are some students in class who might have allergies to the snacks brought to class, cause a distraction to the class, and even lead to obesity. Either way, it is proven to be unhealthy to eat snacks throughout the day, especially in classrooms. The most common problem with snacking in the classroom is the distraction that affects you and the others around you. Bringing snacks and eating them in class causes a distraction to the teacher and students. By allowing students to eat in class will just add on to very long list of distractions already caused by students, pens, drawings, etc. Students can be distracted by these snacks in class; it can take away their attention from the lesson. By bringing in snacks to class without knowing that someone has an allergic reaction can pose a life-threatening situation for that child. Some may experience rashes or even have to be given an injection if they come into contact with the substance. In the most extreme cases of allergic reactions can cause death. The smell of certain foods may bother some students, or increase hunger in other students who are without a snack. The aroma of a certain snack might entice students to ask for the snack and cause a distraction to the class and teacher. The people with snacks tend to get distracted themselves with their own snack and lacking the ability to stay on task. If snacks were allowed in school the majority of students will not clean up after themselves this would lead to a very disorganized and disastrous classroom. The teacher would be picking up
