Peggy Orenstein proved this in her essay, "Learning Silence: Scenes from the Class Struggle," in which she did field research in junior high schools interviewing and observing the interaction of teachers to their students. I think the reason teachers unknowingly give more attention to a particular gender is because of the way that the teachers were brought up to think. The roles of each gender have already been laid out and embedded in the minds of the teachers from their own teachers and parents while growing up. I think that teachers have many preconceived notions of the gender relations of their students. The teachers unknowing pass the ideas that they learned as a child onto their students, who also do not realize that it is being done to them.

I would fall asleep in class because I was so tired. Then I could not finish homework because I had no idea of how to finish the assignment. Finally, working while in school and not doing homework assignments was another major factor in my becoming an alliterate

Being the only carer and feeling that he had a responsibility to car for his mother saw NAME dedicating most of his time taking care of his mum and the house. Dante Larry The start of my writing career was the 7th grade. The 7th grade was an easy year for me work was slightly hard my teacher Mrs. McPherson was a nice lady who was kind of gullible when it came to her students. In her class test were always in order something I was not proud of was when I was in middle school I would cheat on everything and anything possible. My writing experience came into play the middle of 7th grade when papers and book reports were expected by my teacher. Once the papers started to come in my life started getting harder in school I tried anything to get out of writing essays and short stories.
Studies show that students who are over-age for their class was held back a grade level. Not completing assignments, late work, or just missing class led up to being held back a grade. Over-age students seem to need more help in the classroom, than the regular students. Adolescents pick many excuses to drop out of school. Being bored and frustrated with class, many teens say school is irrelevant to
With the appreciation of diversity and the embrace of multiculturalism, attitudes will change because the school system will realize that too long have they marginalized the abilities of minorities and children of different cultures. When teachers in the school system have learned to stop the prejudice and give all children a fair share then it will break the child’s mind set that they do not measure up to their peers and will prove that each child given an opportunity can equally
I want to experiment with what builds a sense of community, support, care, and motivation in my classroom and I assume this will take place in many forms. Torey sought out and found ways to communicate and build relationships with her students, some of the time these ways were non-verbal and rather based on feeling; I hope to create the same sort of atmosphere in my classroom, to have those important one on one moments with my students. This passage in the book also reminded me of a recent conversation I had with my supervising teacher about the hiring process. She told me that some of the best teachers have the worst interviews, but when she’s looking for a potential teacher she relies mostly on intuition; if she believes an individual truly loves children, she is much more likely to hire them regardless of their interview. (Of course the individual would have to demonstrate some basic competencies) The passage also made me think of the beauty of the teaching profession and how it really is difficult to explain to a non-teacher; there are so many small and large events that happen on a daily basis in the academic world that creates a world of amazement and appreciation for the growing
Parents of English Language Learner (ELL) or English as a Second Language (ESL) students have significant communication challenges impacting their lives. Imagine how different your life would be if you spoke no English, and your child was in charge. Social cultural influences effect how all people interact with one another. Children raised in the dominant culture understand what type of behavior is expected in school and other social situations. At home families' traditions, discipline styles, attitudes toward education, and prejudices are very different.
Walking off the bus nervous and excited about what was to come. Real sports, challenging classes and the different teachers i was going to have. All my classes were advanced placement and the people around me were not familiar faces since all incoming sixth graders came from different elementary's in the area. I felt alone for the very first time in my life. I tried to keep focus but my solitude was starting to become unbearable.
