The concept on Secular Music Secular music…What’s wrong with listening to it? Some of us enjoy listening to Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Lil Wayne, and Meek Mills. We love what they talk about and it’s just the fact that we can relate to what they are saying in the lyrics. Is that not okay? Christian music…Music that people only listen to on Sundays. Is it okay for “Christians” to listen to secular music or are they being hypocritical? Okay, its true music has a huge influence on everyone’s life. Music can tell who you are, how you live and how you look. So what’s the big deal with secular music? Some respond that its nothing, but others say it is very powerful, where it has the power to influence and affect the society. Do you believe so? From Scientific American, they state: “Music has an undeniable power of mind and body.” With that being said, do you believe that is a true fact? I certainly do. Even though too many people and myself, Christian and secular music have no distinction. Christians dispute about whether or not it is acceptable to listen to secular music or not. Which side are you on? Initially, music from the eighties and nineties was considered “real”. According to Deejay, music back then had meaning to it. I listen to a lot of songs classified as “Old School” and I learned from the songs different ways to overcome certain situations or to stay lifted up. Even though the music was secular it had positive meaning. The artists in the eighties and nineties worked hard for their fans appreciation. In these days music, have changed drastically. Back then the lyrics were talking about love, truth and life. Now most of the songs are discussing sex, money, violence, and drugs. Do you see how the music changed over time? Ridiculous, right?
