During his sophomore year in college he was named College player of the year. Throughout his carrier he was given the nickname “Air Jordan” for his ability to “Fly through the lane to make a shot.” When he came into the NBA he immediately started to become great at basketball. He was the third pick in the 1984 NBA draft by the Chicago Bulls. The two people who were picked ahead of him were Hakeem Olajuwon who was drafted by the Houston rockets and Sam Bowie who was picked by the Portland Trailblazers. In the 1984 Olympics Jordan won the gold medal.
So there could even be a debate if Kobe is the best scorer of his own generation! Then there is Michael Jordan’s ten scoring titles that say it all— he netted the basket like nobody else, and is tied with Wilt Chamberlain for the all-time record of career points per game. Kobe just topped Shaquille O’Neal in scoring to place as the fifth top scorer of all
His hard work then paid off when he averaged a triple double: 29.2 points, 11.6 rebounds, and 10.1 assists over his final two seasons of high school play. During his senior year he was selected to the McDonald’s All-American Team for his outstanding play throughout the season (Wikipedia 2-3). In 1981, Jordan earned a basketball scholarship to the University of North Carolina, where he majored in cultural geography. Understanding where their teammates are and helping them score. They have great defense. In fact they both were in the top 20 players to average 2 or more steal per game. This makes them even great basketball players. Since high school, Rose has
Jordan was the team, meaning that he was always way above everyone else on his team in points. LeBron James is the best player in the NBA currently. LeBron has a few statistics going in his favor like assists and rebounds. So unlike Jordan, he has more of an ability to keep play going and be less of a “ball hog”. He also has the three-point percentage lead (32.9%) which is important because three pointers are a lot bigger part of the game now than they were when MJ played.

Where as the 2012 team, won four MVP awards, seven NBA titles and were included in 43 All Star games. The Dream Team was much more experienced then, than the 2012 team is today. However, Duhaime, in my opinion, contradicts himself in his article too. “I agree that today’s NBA player tends to be physically stronger, quicker, and more explosive” (Duhaime 3). “The 2012 team possesses great young talent and will likely rout their competition in London” (Duhaime 3).
My first experience playing organized basketball began when I was in the fifth grade on an after school program in the old armory. We played every Saturday morning and I remember that this is where I became the best point guard ever. At least that was the mentality I had because I thought I knew where my basketball career was headed. Little did I know at that time, the odds of me becoming a professional NBA star were not in my favor. Nevertheless, I continued on with my dad’s support and mentoring to be the best player the Arkansas River Valley had ever laid eyes on.
Sherman Alexie has brought himself into his writing by including some of his personal experience in this young adult novel. In the novel, a underlining plot in the story is Junior’s run through his freshman basketball season on the Varsity team at Reardan High School. He makes varsity after an intense battle with the teams best player, Roger. Even though he is the best shooter on the team, Junior felt he wouldn’t get a lot of playing time, which at first he doesn’t, but then he becomes the teams spark plug, their 6th man, averaging 12 points off the bench. When came time to play his former school, Wellpinit, he started his first game.
