Michael Air Jordan Michael Jordan has been considered the greatest basketball player to ever play. He was born on February 17th 1963 in Brooklyn New York. As a sophomore he was a skinny 5-11 guard who got cut from his basketball team but after the next summer he grew to 6-3 and was starting to become really good at basketball. He started his basketball stardom at North Carolina University after he made a game winning shot to help North Carolina win the NCAA championship. During his sophomore year in college he was named College player of the year. Throughout his carrier he was given the nickname “Air Jordan” for his ability to “Fly through the lane to make a shot.” When he came into the NBA he immediately started to become great at basketball. He was the third pick in the 1984 NBA draft by the Chicago Bulls. The two people who were picked ahead of him were Hakeem Olajuwon who was drafted by the Houston rockets and Sam Bowie who was picked by the Portland Trailblazers. In the 1984 Olympics Jordan won the gold medal. He won rookie of the year and averaged 28.2 points per game, 6.5 rebounds per game and 5.9 assists per game, which is really good for a rookie player. In his second year in the NBA the Chicago Bulls with Michael Jordan versed the Boston Celtics in the first round of the Eastern Playoffs. Where Jordan scored 63 points against the Boston Celtics. Which is a remarkable achievement for any player in the NBA. The lose in the playoffs that year to the pistons and keep on losing to the until 1990 when they beat them and advanced to the NBA finals facing off against the Los Angles Lakers. During the 1990 playoffs Jordan was up against Magic Johnson who was an NBA all star as well. Jordan was able to beat the Lakers and win their first NBA finals trophy in franchise history.
