Comparing The Northern Renaissance And Islamic Culture

During my travel around the world there are three periods that really amazed me; they were the Northern Renaissance, The Italian Renaissance and the Islamic culture. These three cultures and art forms are most diverse in nature; travel with me back in time and experience the beauty and depth of these cultures and different forms of art. I hope you are able to feel the distinct cultures and see how these cultures have impacted art and culture as we know it today. The Northern European Renaissance traditions emerged in the North of England and Europe quite a bit slower than they did in Italy. The Northern Renaissance was considered a rebirth of classical values which included Roman values. The North although there was a span of a thousand years was still trying to deal with the fact that it was conquered by Rome and their people were once Roman Slaves. Trade and ideas from Italy flowed to the North in ways of commerce. The North had strong artistic traditions coupled with Burgundian dukes and the guild systems which led to the creation of their huge Gothic Cathedrals. As trade grew in the North so did their wealth. Northern artist used a lot of color. Color was very important in their art work; they also paid very close attention to the details of their art. The more detail one could include in an art piece, the better. The paintings of the Northern Renaissance era usually would show very detailed paintings from the hair on a figures head to each object seen in the room, normally with a projection of the artist themselves appearing in the distance through a mirror in the background of the portrait.
