Source Analysis Paper History 1111 Mathew Myers “Descriptions of Western Regions” is a primary source written between 138B.C.E. and 125B.C.E, by Zhang Qian, giving descriptions of his encounters during his journey westward. Zhang Qian was a Chinese ambassador, who was sent westward to find allies for the Chinese Empire. They needed allies against the Xiongnu, who terrorized the Chinese. While on his journey, he was held captive for over ten years by the Xiongnu, and found out much information about them.

In some way, these rights have become values of the American people, but these values are not practiced as intended. That is a very big difference in our cultures. In conclusion, the American culture and Yup’ik culture, have a lot of similarities and differences. Some people might say the Yup’ik culture for the better. But also, some people might say their culture is for the worst. The Yup’ik’s way of looking at life is much more peaceful and simple.
Although the Hatchery provides a secure and peaceful lifestyle, it simultaneously takes any intuition and uniqueness from the humans produced there. People are defaced to the level of machines produced on an assembly line. Reading this novel has really made me appreciate the freedoms that we have come to automatically assume. Non conformity and inventiveness, two traits that are completely abandoned by the Hatchery, are highly encouraged in today’s times. It is surprising that the future is depicted this way by Huxley because it seems like more of a degeneration of mankind rather than an advancement.
