Every student goes through some good and bad teachers. A few select teachers have the power to engage students on a completely new level. This gives the student an automatic confidence boost and the wanting to succeed in the subject. I have had the opportunity to experience one of the best. Pete Tarnish was an outstanding teacher who was able to communicate well with his students, care deeply about them, and be a great family man.
MAYA ANGELOU GRADUATION RESPONSE In “Graduation” Maya Angelou defines academic success and achievement in different ways. One way she describes it is as a moving forward with life phase. The senior moves on to bigger and better things and in some ways pass the torch down to the junior ones to now take responsibility. She also describes how one senior graduation turns out to be the whole town celebration. If we look back to the time Maya Angelou graduated from high school, things were different and everyone acknowledge the annual graduation day.
The experience that has given me the biggest sense of ‘Firebird Pride’ is my time in National Honor Society. I truly enjoy giving back to the community and school that has given me so much. Through working with students my own age to senior citizens to citizens of Dayton in homeless shelters, I have realized how blessed I am to have all of the opportunities that have arisen during my high school career. I am a stronger leader, a better community member, and a more patient and understanding person because of the service I have provided throughout my time in NHS. Through the tutoring hours put into this group, I have formed bonds with students I never would have otherwise been around and the relationships with these kids and their parents have made me feel like I have had my own impact on the community.
These wonderful bonds that were made in nine hours, will last for a while and maybe forever. The Breakfast Club, then, shows love and acceptance through the qualities, and elements of the characters. It also shows that all their differences at the beginning of the movie soon became similarities. And through those similarities, they became united and bonded. The theme is shown and emphasized through all of the characters, and they show how through their parents, they accept each other and learned how to cope and love one
Deshaun Wilson English 1002-40619 9/5/12 ULM’s Greatest Organization Being involved on campus was always one of my main goals. Campus Activities Board, also known as CAB, is a great way for me to achieve that goal. Campus Activities Board is an organization that host many activities and events on campus throughout the school year that allows you to meet new people, gain leadership skills, have lots of fun, and learn an abundance of new things. If you’re always bored, CAB is the organization responsible creating great events. For example, the awesome Spring Fever week, an event that most students won’t miss, at the end of April.
When the females take their pledge, the deacon’s wife assists them in taking their caps off. When the ceremony is over, each member is welcomed with a holy kiss on the hand from either the bishop of the bishop’s wife. After the ceremony, everyone enjoys a feast and celebrates entering adulthood. Another ritual that is important to the Amish community is marriage. An Amish wedding ceremony is very similar to other wedding ceremonies.
Then another reason is we can all work together and help each other whenever it’s needed. I would say my grandparents were another reason for me to come because they were a big influence to me because KSU is their Alma Mater. Then I see that both of them got a good education from the school and we got the same major. So since my major was mass communications me and my grandpa talked about it. So when we talked he brought up Kentucky State and made me interested in it.
I try to study in between my classes during my two hour breaks on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays so I don’t fall behind in my schoolwork. Lastly for this section, I plan on changing up my study habits. In grade school all the way up until senior year of high school, I made it a habit to study and do homework in front of my television. Now, that will not happen. I am only going to study and do homework while sitting in silence or while listening to instrumental music.
I can’t tell you how grateful I am to have been chosen and invited to speak to you today. I would like to give honor to whom honor is due, and with that being said, I would like to thank the principal, faculty and staff for allowing me this phenomenal opportunity to address you. I also want to thank all of the friends and family who could be here to support their respective graduates. I can only imagine how excited you all are right now about transitioning into a new venture in life. I would like to give you a challenge to start you off in this venture.
Morrie gives his love to each individual that is a part of his life. He makes it his duty to make sure that they feel that they are loved by him. He once told me, "The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love, and to let it come in." He lives by those words and had a great impact on my idea of love. I consider myself lucky to have come across a man as great as my husband.
